Hi Buddy,

1. me ain't great gamer. but as far i know, CT is one, NFS is also good.

Age of empires my all time fav.

2. As far as the wireless network setup is concerned. Buy a router. Must cost u around 3k to 4 k. It will support upto 4 LAN connections and not sure how many wireless conx it would support. But i guess it will support atleast 4.

Once the router is set, get 4 wireless ethernet cards. Lots out there in the market. Better buy both from the same manufacturer.

Summary:

Stuff u need

1. 1 Router

2. n Wireless ethernet cards for n connections.

:)

Enjoy wireless networking.

Hope this helps

If you allready have a wired LAN, why do you need a wireless network

Cons:

- relatively Poor pings

- relatively Poor thoroughput

And the biggest question, th wireless coverage radius of the router and the cards may not be big enough to cover the range (unknown) since you guys are neighbors

Hmmmmm......is that so???Poor Pings......i didn't know about that.......well the distance between our houses is my first neighbour is right behind my house i can just jump on to his terrace, second guys house is just 20ft opposite to first guy, 3rd guys house is 40ft away from second.....so i don't think range would be a prob....but the prob we are havin now with wired LAN is since its hangin across the road our dearest KEB guyz are troubling us n as well monkeys which hang on it n bring it down.....datz the reason of tryin to go wireless heard a lot about it but first time got to hear something -ve.....thx dude....but hope u can suggest some branded ones which won't cause much trouble....

Hi ,

In your condition you need to conduct a site survey before getting a n Access points .

The signal strength varies beind walls and glass .

So if possible get an access point and a wi-fi enabled laptop.

Place the access point in suitable place with less obstruction

Install netstumbler on laptpp and meaure signal strengths among all locations .

And then see how many AP's you require .

As per your scenario by guess will be 2 .

yup, netstumbler is the perfect tool for this case...just borrow/get a router/AP/wireless card and broadcast a SSID...

Then (preferably using a laptop) run a netstumbler scan at all the locations you need the network to be available....

A 40 feet distance doesn't amount to much but 802.11 b (and more so, g) signals have a tendency to deteriorate fast when obstructed by concrete/walls /.....

the netstumbler signal level should be at least -80`db in the worst scenario for you to get decent connectivity from all locations
