Hello folks,

I need some help for setting up an Internet connection in-between two rooms (my PC room and my sitting room) in my house. Here's the scenario:

- The two rooms are at a distance of 100 feet (approx.) and there are doors and walls in-between them.

- I use Airtel broadband and it comes with the beetel 220BX - ADSL2+ modem which I have connected to a D-Link switch (like this one: http://www.dlink.com/dgs-1008g). I use a second wired LAN connection for my netbook sometimes, thus the need for the switch.

- The Airtel modem and D-Link switch are placed in my PC room.

Now, to my questions which I'm dividing into 2 parts:

As mentioned above I would like to have internet connectivity in the two rooms but I was wondering if it'll be better to use 100+ feet CAT6 cable to establish the connection OR should I buy and use a wireless router and then establish the connection with it?

WRT CAT 6 Cable:

(i) If I were to use CAT 6 cable, will it hinder connectivity since it's a large 100+feet distance?

WRT Wireless Router:

(i) Will the router work since there are walls and doors in-between the two rooms over the distance?

(ii) In case this is the better option, which wireless router should I buy, some links from Flipkart would be great.
Please advice folks as I'm a noob at networking and any help is really appreciated.

First of all , i need a pic of your house (100 ft b/w two rooms ??

)

At such lengths, laying a cable will be troublesome and wont be aesthetic.. unless, you have ethernet jacks installed - like cable laid around the common places of house.

# 2 : I will recommend wireless router. Cisco e4200 is doing great , dual band and n-router. With walls , there is a possibility of signal being weak. You can then buy a cheap router, flash it with ddwrt and use it as a repeater. The cost of all this might turn up arnd 14k rs.

Now, you can weigh charges of ethernet cable and whether laying it arnd the house against the above. Pls take note of the area you will cover while using a wifi router and an ethernet cable.
