Dell is offering me above in 53 K. He initially said 57, but I was able to take him down to 53. I feel there is margin for 1k more in this. What ya say folks?

yes

u can usually negotiate with the reps on the phone..usually the minimum u can expect is that they will include all taxes n stuff in the existing price only ;)

well the including of taxes in the price option they have in the online store as well.. just tick their 5-day delivery option and they include the taxes in the price of the product.. but do they negotitate even further on phone??

^ yea they do..

Where did you get this quote from? It looks oook.. Though yes it will be better if you can get it down a bit more.

Yeah about that. What is this feature? How come delaying the delivery by 5 days makes it eligible for a tax rebate? This has to be legal, right?

well they're not really doing away with the taxes.. they show it to u to that way.. But actually they'll be lowering their own price and including the taxes within that...

I talked to them over phone. The real reason is, either I can get the lappy direct from Malaysia(+tax) or I can get it to Bangalore and then shipped it to my home which will take 5 days more but will invite no tax( I dunno how is that).

But he said no other negotiation is possible because I am not buying a high-end model. Mine is like 50,000. Is that true that you can negotiate for price for a mid range lappy?

the tax no tax thing from dell guy is a load of crap..... :P probably immediate shipping might cost dell more/more cost for getting assembled immediately? :P

n yes..negotiations always possible :)

but obviously margin for a low end system is less than that for a high end system ;)

some adjustment should still be possible....

yup...not more than that :) unless ur a bulk customer or kno some1 who works for dell.....

much easier to get them to give u some free goodies (upgrades) though i think....

hmm guys, sorry to interrupt, but we're here deviating from the topic. I asked if this deal is good enough or not and here we're discussing if Dell provide discount / bargain or not. Well there no issue in going out a bit, but here, my question has been answered by only 1 out of 10 odd replies.....hmm
