Hey guys.....

cant beat mumbai`s Heat and pay huge bills of electricity, because of my existing AC simultaneously
My Mom ends up givin me nice thrashing :P after seein the bill.

The current AC i am using is an 1.5 Ton some MITSUBA assembled s#it with very low efficiency, Bad cooling, "khad khad" sound coming out of it and huge increment in my electricty bill even if i use it 2-3 times in a week for 1-2hrs each max (almost 1.5k increment).

hence the ultimate solution is to buy a new AC @ 1.5ton

at all the shops i tried they are all offerin me 3k for my old AC, hence i wud
say i need something which has its MRP not more than 19-19500 k..... (eventually i`ll pay not more than 16-16500 + 3k buyback )

plz suggest the best VFM AC.

my priorities are :

1) Very Low Electricity BILL
2) Low Maintainance
3) Good quality
4) MRP shud not be more than 19500
5) Best possible after Sales Service in Mumbai/Navi Mumbai
Also suggest me ...
if gettin a split AC is a good option.
i know in my budget i wont be able to buy more than 1.0 Ton Split AC.
my Bed room area is 120sqft.
and if YES a split AC, suggest me something which will qualify for the above criteria + shud be ready to start @ 19.5 (inclusive installation etc)
plz reply guys.. need to buy by tomorrow Morning-afternoon

1 ton is more then enough for 120 sq ft,

I am using a 1 ton split in a 160 sq ft room, and I get more then adequate cooling.

One of the first rules of air-conditioning is to size it right to have it working efficiently, and 1.5 tons is definitely over kill.

Also the surrounding contributes a lot, if yo u are having direct sunlight coming in, use sunfilm, if you have a terrace above you, put in a false ceiling.

which is the one which falls in my convinient price segment ????
19-19.5 ??
does it meet the above criteria... even i am thinkin goin for a split one..
but high maintanance is makin me think a lot abt it ...:(

I'd suggest you check the Samsungs out. I got a normal window AC last year for 15 (1.5 ton ) Comes with power saving mode. Samsung has the best customer Support I have seen till date. They give 3 free services and the last service is a wet service.

i bought a samsung window ac (1.5ton). and i have to say i am never going to buy a samsung ac again... the customer service gave me some of the worst time of my life. its been replaced so many times without fixing the problem eventually the warranty expired and now i have a bad ac at my hand and looks like ill have to put my own money to fix it.

im going to buy an ac too soon im still undecided. its going to be voltas, hitachi, or carrier (o'general is out of my reach)

dingemini at your budget i think window will be the best option you have.

as most one tonne acs will cost 18-19k plus installation.

as you have plans to upgrade from present window ac you will save on installation charges because of already present installation window.

3k for an assembled old ac in exchange is decent.

within your budget you will get Onida / Godrej / Electrolux / Whirpool and may be carier / hitachi (basic no frills models).

but all models which fit in your budget will have some sort of noise which you have to bear.

though recently i have not ventured in to window acs but brands recognition remains the same.

and a big word : stay away from lg / samsung for acs.

^ Yup dump LG and Samsung and any other Korean company rightaway.

For your budget, try the new Voltas Vertis series, pretty good cooling, very silent, low power consumption.

Get the voltas vertis 1.5T..

The tonnage as u may know shud be decided by the room space..

This one was recently installed in one of the atms near to my home.. 2 of 'em..

I was virtually freezing as I took the cash out of it n was waiting fer the receipt.. :ashamed:

Hope u've a pretty decnt stabilizer.. :)

Absolutely stay away from LG. And also videocon AC. Both have been bad experiences for me. LGs after sale service was pathetic. :/

Me too wanna switch to a new AC .. so this thread's gonna help. :)

By far the best ones being..

Carrier(Inventors of the same);

Hitachi;

Daikin;

O-General.

Using LG 1.5 split for last 3 years but will never suggest it. Very noisy for the last two years and no technician is able to rectify it.

Dude u need to try Hitachi!

Its just fishing gr8!!!

Have it installed in my parents room,

Chills the room within 10 min.......

its ultra silent but yes the model is Split AC

& expensive... but then i still suggest you could try HITACHI Window ac's

I am also looking for a 1.5 ton window AC for a room size of approx 140 sq feet. I checked out few brands today. I liked Voltas Vertis, however, while checking out Onida the shopkeeper told me it has a Hitachi compressor, is it indeed true? how would other brands like whirlpool n Haier compare vis a vis Voltas? I m absolutely not interested in samsungs or LGs so i have kept them out, and Hitachi, OGeneral etc are out of my budget as my total budget with stablizer n all is around 20K. Please suggest what shud b gud option.
