Need an inexpensive Gigabit Ethernet PCI card!

Hey. Lately I've been doing some file sharing from my PC and the performance is very low.

Probably it's because it supports upto 100 Mbps only. And also because it is a low end on-board VIA Rhine adapter; takes significant CPU cycles and gives 5-6 Mega Bytes per second transfer speeds, at most.

So I've figured out that I need an add-on PCI Gigabit (1 Gbps) ethernet card. It should also not give me a big performance hit during transfers. It's very noticeable otherwise on a single core proccy.

I have no PCI-e expansion slots on my Mobo.

What are my options and the prices?

here a branded wud cost u > 1K IMHO and iballs and other nearly .6K

i had bought one from Ebay.com , Intel pro 1000 MT PCI GBe , for use with ESX and vSphere ( sasta tikau solution for these products to be recognized as a part of intel e1000 family nic series )

i had bought from a HongKong based seller named ' goezshopping ' and its costed me 13$ rougly Rs700/- shipped including any customs ( if they were involved ) , product received was brand new , sealed although a old nic chipset ( Q2 2002 as ark.intel.com )

but VFM as per me ;)
