Hi Guys,

requirements:
2 celing fans + 2tubelights + Laptop/PC/TV (one at a time)

How many VA inverter would be good to run for atleast 3-4 hours

Which are some of the good VFM brands and what would be expected prices

Thanks in advance :)

i run an electricals shop in chd n as per my experience "luminous" inverters are the Best.... a 600VA inverter should be enuf for ur use...

Cost: arnd 12k including high-quality maintenance-free Exide batteries..

Your kind of usage would do with 600-850 VA.

Try Luminous - 3500-4500/-

Exide battery(maintenance free, invatubular)- 10-11k.

i would say go in for atleast an 800VA inverter from microtek/luminous/su-kam of the sine wave variety (not the regular ones).. a good battery will cost you more than the inverter itslef

Thanks guys

Wont a inverter from Luminous or other brands come with battery and it has to be only bought separately

c'mon, please pour in your suggestions/info...Many Thanks

As per an article on inverters and their efficiency published in EFY (Oct), based on tests by"Consumer Voice" magazine, all the nine tested brands failed to meet national standards of efficiency(85%). findings-
1.Brands like Suksm and Microtek have pure sine wave
2.APC has top efficiency of 80.82%
3.Except Proview , all brands delivered excessive voltage on no load
4.Battery charging is either too fast or too slow.
5. Sukam had lowest changeover time (6.4ms) and APC the longest (138ms)

There is an article in this months EFY which shows results of a comparison done by Consumer Voice magazine regarding efficiency of nine brands of inverters. Findings-
1.All brands failed to meet national standards of efficiency of 85%.
2.Only Sukam and Microtek have pure sine wave.
3.APC had highest efficiency of 80.82%
4.All except Proview delivered excessive voltage with no load.
5.Battery charging times were either too fast or too slow.
6.Changeover times varied from 6.4ms (Su-Kam) to 138ms(APC)
( in the table, the values are shown differently )
Overall performance as per the article is as follows.
1.Proview
2.APC
3.Su-Kam
4.Genus
5.Luminous
6.True Power
7.Intex
8.Hyundai
9.Microtek

I am not at all aware how reliable the findings are!

Guys,

I was quoted 15K for a Su-Kam800VA(pure sine) + Amaron maintenance free batteries - NOVO Traders
Is it a good price.

I asked about Luminous and he told that Luminous don't have pure sinewave and it will cause problems to PCs

I asked about Exide and he told, there is no maintenance free batteries with it will be 1.5K lesser
Any other contacts in Chennai selling inverters
