I don't remember using my optical drives for any burning but i need to burn some backups now.

All i remember is people favour TY discs a lot and had bought spools of 100 discs from KMD/Todphod.
So should i still try and get those TYs or is there something better available?

If there is something better or an equally good alternative to the good TYs, please let me know. :)

Also do let me know where to buy those and what do they cost usually. :P

Bikey, just get the Verbatim +R's, they are very good, next to the TY's. Also, they're pretty inexpensive here these days.

beg for some coupons from the eBay thread. then go and buy from ebay.

offcourse, if u wanna try first, lemme knwo, will give u 10-20 at 'premium' prices :D

Verbatims are pretty decent as well i guess. Trying to get TY's here is difficult and i think youll have to get it through KMD only.

Anyone know where to get Verbatim pearl white dvd+r? i can only see the matt silver ones everywhere. the pearl white gave me better burns than matt silver ones.

Yea Bikey BUY Verbatim +R DVD ..Its Cheap & Good

In India you get Silver Matt Finish Dvds Now in verbatim

You can buy Verbratim DvD+R packs from a shop 'Creative' on the second floor of Ganga Building at Lamington Road. 50 pack is for Rs.550. It's hard to get Verbratim DvD+R from roadside vendors so we go to the distributor. They are the distributors for Belkin too.:)

Someone (not naming unless i have permission) just forwarded me some scans from a Verb he had earlier and one from the fresh cake box.

Quality down from 95 to 64. :O

sheesh- just one of the usual fears with regards to media- no consistency. :(

Actually something similar happened with the TYs I have. One of them showed very poor quality (cant remember exactly how much now). But the others were fairly stable in the high 90s. I put it down to the sometimes dubious reads by my drive at that time(it was on its last few legs).

To be sure, I suppose you would need scans from a fairly new drive and preferably scans from another drive on the same discs to corroborate.
