Car & Bike Need guidance for buying a car and understanding it..

Hello All,

First of all to brief you about my background. Was a car fanatic all my childhood. When came to India all the craze died out but still I would keep an eye out for supercars and stuff on the T.V. and mags. But now am all grown up (can't say I'm matured :bleh: ) but now am at an age where I can think of buying a car/4-wheeler. The thing is I got so much involved with computers that I forgot my first love :ashamed:

Now when I get into the nitty gritties of cars I'm stumped. 1.2 1.4.1.6 L engines... that was what got me. I can't tell what is what. And also cannot decide which would be better for me. Also I'm 5' 10" and though I can sit in a Santro I would like to drive comfortably.

I am a rash driver according to me. I always drive in the excess of 60 kmph on any given road :ashamed: I blame it on my Unicorn; ppl blame it on me.

But anyway If you guys were supposed to suggest a car for a family of four; for casual outing; occasional office trips to the hotel... 1 or 2 trips to trekking... not much long route driving... and yes easy to understand stuff.

Also do bear in mind am not gonna buy a car right now. Right now am just trying to prep for it. Coz in my world buying anything takes lot of work and coxing :bleh: I didn't get any useful sites resources explaining all of this stuff; thats why I posted here. If any one has any links pointers I would be more than helpful :)
 
team bhp .... that place has way more serious info than here considering they specialize in cars and here in computers
 
I didn't write down any budget coz I just wanted to understand atleast something about cars. Heading to teambhp for now :)
 
Without a budget, people will recommend anything from a maruti 800 to a bmw m5 :P. What you get completely depends on what your budget is.

Its also very dangerous - i had no preset budget and after trying out a few cars, my budget shot up from 4lacs to 10lacs :(. I'm sure I'd not let that happen next time round.
 
Was having a Fiesta on mind. so mebbe a budget of max 8 lakh (onroad). Anything over that would be suicide for me.

Log on to Team-BHP. However, my advice here would be that since you have the Fiesta in mind and a budget of 8 lakhs, test drive the new Linea and then take a decision.
 
Hmm... Thanks a lot. I'll head to team-bhp. Lemme see how much of the stuff gets into my head.
