Hey.

Ive got a new GeForce 7800 GT and since ive got a P3 800 Mhz i need a new PC :( SO i ve to decide on several things ....

1) Choice of Processor (Intel / AMD ) ---- (I game quite a bit .....but need to catch up on a lot of games i missed out thanks to my P3)
I'd like a nice fast processor that does justice to my new GeForce

2)Choice of Mobo (Of course it needs a PCI Express Slot (16x) for GeForce)
3)My Budget is around 12k (in indian rupees) for Proc+Mobo

So what do i do ?

hmm, 12k

Asus A8Ne is for about 5.8k and a new venice 3000+ should be about 6500 would be the best bang for your bux

you might want to check out the TE price guide here -- http://www.techenclave.com/forums/pricelist.php

wow dude 7800gt and n proccy mobo :P u gotta have a a8n-e and if i can get aopty 144 instead of venice 3000+ will perform far better...

Yup you'd need atleast a 450-500W PSU (another 4K) and atleast 1GB of main memory (another 4K). Expect to spend around 21-22K for board+processor+ram+psu.

Answer to 1) Choice of Processor (Intel / AMD ) definitely go with AMD, get like a 3200+ Venice core!

2)Choice of Mobo, I prefer DFI over ASUS anyday, so if you want something cheap and better than the a8n-e then get the DFI nF4-DAGF, alot cheaper and just as good. But the Mobo is the most important part, I suggest you put most of you money in that and get like a DFI LanParty.

3)My Budget is around 12k (in indian rupees) for Proc+Mobo, sorry I dont know what indian rupees are. But save some money for atleast a 450 watt PSU and atleast 512MB of Ram.

@mako3, the DFI nf4-DAGF ain't available in india and Asus A8N-E ain't a bad motherboard either, its rock solid board.

Thanks a lot guys ... i think i'll settle for AMD A8N-E fro Mobo and still thinkin abt Proc ... how about AMD 64-3200 + ?

The A64 3200+ costs around 1800rs more then the 3000+.. So it may be a tad more expensive considering your budget.

But fyi, you would need at least a 3500+ processor to complement your graphics card. Since that is way outside your cash limits, the best next option is to get a 3000+ and do some overclocking.;)
