Hi Guys,

I am in a major fix i bought this rig.

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/fs-xp2600-a7n8x-edlx-1-2gb-80419.html

When i checked it, i was informed that it had a power supply problem and by changing it the rig would begin to work effeciently. It was restarting when i bought it and it restarted when i was checking it out.

I changed the power supply, but it has not really helped. The pc just shutsdown now at the windows screen.

I have tried changing the ram running, it on different ram everything but its still not functioning. I have no help as deejay is out of town for now :) hes my only source of help at this point of time.

The config is

2600+
Asus A7N8X-EDLX
512 * 2 Transend Ram
Evga 6600 LE
160 GB Primary HDD
200 GB Secondary Master
I now have 2 PSU's one powersafe 400 and one umax 350. The Powersafe has a fluctuation in its voltage that goes from 12.20 - 13.70 and this was suppose to be the cause or the reboot.

The Umax runs at a stable 12.60 - 12.70

From the time I bought this pc i have been continously trying to get it working, it worked fine for 5 days, and after that its been hell.

I removed each and every component placed fresh artic silver on the required chipsets :(. Cleaned ram brushed dust off from everywhere but no positive signs. The funny thing is it ran stable for one night when i interchanged the wires to the HDD's and graphic card.

I will be reinstalling windows again today and trying again. If anybody has any suggestions or tips please help me out.

same problem happened with me when i was using Geforce 4, it went corrupt (no sign of corrupt patterns in bios) without drivers.. i was able to see the windows after the load. bt after installing drivers, when i restarted i was having same problem like you cause the card was corrupt.
now try this:
1.Boot in safe mode see if ur able to see the windows screen
2.uninstall graphics card drivers
3.see if ur able to see the windows in non safe mode.
Try and if works rep me ;) jokin. lol

Points to a faulty PSU or RAM.Could even be motherboard PCB solder point shorting with the case or something....

I strongy feel that the PSU is at fault, also try 1 stick RAM in each slot at a time.

Fresh XP install is a good idea to start with

Darklord Maybe Right But I Think Its Graphics Card Problem As Uve Cleaned And Checked Everything.. Remove Graphics Card And Try Onboard Video Or Do The Above Steps If Possible. So Let Us Know If U Need Any Further Help

I forgot to add that the PC does work in safe mode.

Darklord i have tried with RAM, did not work. Will try knocking off the Graphic card drivers in safe mode and then booting. :) If this works u will surely be repped nvidiabeast!

This mobo does not have onboard video :)

Hmm Try Kicking Drivers Of Ur Nvidia Card And It Will Display Windows Screen In Non Safe Mode.. Experience Plays Major Role ;) MAKE SURE THE DRIVERS ARE 100% REMOVED. USE SOME DRIVER CLEANERS..

IF it WORKS in safe mode then 100% it is something related to OS/Drivers/Software related issue, formatting and fresh XP install should work i guess

dont do fresh install.. you just remove drivers and try booting normally. hope removal is done properly.. i meant this way that ur able to use in safe mode so install in safe mode if ur having on HDD

the same thing used to happen when i was on a 5200 GPU...it died & didnt show any signs...
It never used to go post.
Even if it would..itd' restart auto in a few mins..try puttin in another GPU & see..:)

Overvoltage Fried Ur Card.. 6600le Has Extra Molex Connector? Looks Like Friedclyde Is Installing Fresh Windows So He Aint Replying Since Hour.. Friedclyde!! Still Facing Same Problem?? *shouting Very Loud*

oh shit. then i think ur card is fried.. now try as i said, uninstall drivers in safe mode!! and see if ur getting display in normal mode. ur psu sucks at 13.70 voltage :( graphics cards are very sensitive to electrical disturbances, sometimes i get fluctuation very small.. my speakers crackles and at the same time when i play game , my game stutter for a second or 2. disturbances i get by switching on and off lights. i get such things rare so i get scared about my graphics card

ok yesterday dint try reinstalling windows because my friend who was suppose to give me the cd could not find it :@

i disconnected the molex connector from the graphic card and started the pc it loaded windows and just as i started to sign into msn messenger it restarted

i then tried logging into safe mode and the freaking pc restarted......its not even getting into safe mode :( anybody any clue wats going on?

i really doubt theres anything wrong with the graphic card as the display is absolutely fine not a single artifact or problem with the display...... :help:

hmm msn requires little graphical and system resources.. so since its not booting into ur safe mode then there is a serious problem. so try safe mode with networking support. so without molex power, it booted normally and showed windows screen and with molex it doesnt.. fishy... its graphics card problem only.

sounds like the power supply .. try getting another powersafe and give it a shot . also as darky suggested in his first post have you checked for grounding issues ?

no i havent checked for grounding issues........this could be a problem as this plug point had an issue ealier. Ill check somewhere else in the house today thanks.........:) Im trying each and every thing possible :)

the Nforce 2 SMbus and GART drivers are a bit unstable . if you have installed the latest mobo drivers, they might be the reason . switch back to the default XP drivers :)
