CPU/Mobo need help for buying Processor and motherboard under Rs.5000

Guys i need your suggestion regarding

Processor :AMD or Intel core 2 duo (any)

Motherboard:Any Compatible Mobo with onboard graphic card

BUDGET :Rs. 4000 for both but can stretch to 5000

Location :Mumbai

Suggestion with good reasons will be most appretiated:)

Processor: AMD AthlonII X2 250(3Ghz, 2 core) ~Rs. 2700
Motherboard: Gigabyte GA-74GMT-S2 ~Rs. 2350 (On Board HD2100)
or increase your budget and get Asus M4A78LT-M LE ~Rs. 2700 (On Board HD3000)

The intel processor closest to your budget is Pentium dual core E5600. (It's not core2duo). And it's 3k. Add mobo for another 2.3-2.5k.

Athlon II has a better performance than E5600. Also, AMD motherboards have onboard graphics which are quite decent.

what about Amd Phenom X3 8650 and Intel Core 2 Duo E7200 - 2.53GHz - 3MB L2 or intel i3
just for disscusion which is better excluding the price factor
X3 8650 is EOL for years now. It was not a great proccy avoid.
E7xxx is decent but @5.3k it doesnt make sense since the i3 5xx series costs the same.

As ppl have suggested here get either,
AMD AthlonII X2 250 + Gigabyte 740G/ Asus 780L ~ 5-5.4k
Intel Pentium Dual Core E5600 + Gigabyte G41 Combo ~ 5.4k

These are the two best and sensible options in your budget.

@gunjan singh

if u'll go wid an amd based rig that most ppl have suggested above then u have to buy a ddr3 ram too... which i think u dont have :)... So u've to buy CPU+Mobo+RAM which wud definately overshoot ur budget... :)

just my 2cents... :)

When you already have a decent proccy + mobo then why do you wanna upgrade now :S The AthlonII X2 250 is not much of an upgrade from your current setup.

Post your full specs here so that we can help you out better. Any reasons why you feel you need to upgrade?

i m not upgrading X3 ,i m upgrading my P3

i want to ask can i converter IDE to Sata

i m changing only my Processor and Motherboard and im keeping cabinet ,hdd, dvdrom same

i have PSU 24 pin

So finally Should I go for AMD AthlonII X2 250 or AMD Athlon IIx3 440

what about AMD Phenom II X2 555 BE

does Gigabyte 740G or ASUS M4A78LT-m LE support DDr3 or DDr2 RAM

You'll need a higher budget than 5K then,

go for the AMD Athlon IIx3 440 -- 3.3K <as you are not looking to overclock, the black edition is not worth it these days as very few of them unlock to quad-cores>
The ASUS M4A78LT-M LE -- supports DDR III and has better VFM than any 740G/ 760G based boards <it is a 780G based board>
You can upgrade to a 500GB SATA II Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 -- 1.6K
You'll need a better PSU to hold all of this together, go for the FSP Saga II 350W/ 400W minimum for good warranty and peace of mind from exploding cabinets. -- 1.7K/ 1.9K
(all prices from Bangalore). Hope this helps.

i would suggest athlon ii x2 250+ASUS M4A78LT-M LE

can i keep old hDD and DVDrom from P3 and use some ide to sata convertors for it
u can use both of these 'cause there is one ide port is there in mobo...
