Hi friends,

I am little bit confused about my power supply VX 550W. I have the following configuration:

CPU: i5 2500K @ 5.0GHz.
MOB: Z68XP-UD3R.
RAM: 32GB Ripjaws X.
GPU: ZOTAC 560ti AMP!
Cooler: H80.
HDD: Crucial M4 128GB + WD Green 2TB + WD Green 1TB.
ODD: SONY Dvd RW.
CAB: 690 II Advance with 2 noctua 140mm + 1 CM 140mm + 1 CM 120mm FAN.

I want to install more HDD, is this necessary to upgrade my PSU or not...is required then which 'll better for my rig as I am always running it in O.C.

Thanks in advance...

Couple more low-power storage disks should be fine, they switch off when not being used and it's highly unlikely you have many applications hitting CPU and disk together very hard.

I see 550W consumption (not PSU capacity) with two 6970s, a Phenom II x4 running at 4GHz, and a Dell 3008 WFP. These 4 alone will be about 500W of the 550. You should be OK.

One more things friend...

In VX550W, there were two SATA power output cable with 3 port each and I have 690 II advance. So, for upper DVD RW I have to use 1 SATA power cord, in which 2 port is unused as HDD cage is far away from it...

So, is there any PSU available where at least 4 to 5 SATA power port attached in a single output cable?? Then I can use 4 to 5 HDD in a good way..

^^No, none.

Your motherboard should have come with a few SATA power splitters, and if it didn't you can buy them off eBay or you can buy them locally.

I always use the splitters for opticals when the computer has an optical drive.

I have 4 pin to SATA power converter....

is it good to use??

You can use it. Although there are cases of excess voltage getting through and screwing up the components.

Never in my 15 years of owning computers has this happened, if the power supply was a good one to begin with. He has a VX550. You may be talking about people with shitty Coolermaster and local PSUs.

Yes. It seems I am in the same lurch for now. :)

Just sharing what I have seen.
