hi guys, am using VM workstation ace edition and created two virtual machin both with server 2003 and they r running fine and both are connected together.
now i have two issue
1.Enabled the sound .in virtual PC's..but its not working in virtual machine (both machine)
2.I want to connect my Host window (win XP) with both of my VM machine..so all the three windows can work at a time..how can i do this ?
i have two network adaptor in my host side...VMNET1 AND VMNET8.
i have LAN instaled for my Laptop
i have ADSL modem for my internet connection but LAN is not connected by ADSL.that is with cross cable direct pc to pc connected.
i try to give the same class IP's in VMNET1 and in VMNET8..as my VM machine have the ip's...198.168.0.3 and 198.168.0.4..so i gave the next ip's in VMNET1 and in VMNET8...198.168.0.6 and 198.168.0.7..nothing works...
now pl help me in this thanks:)

Dude

1. Older version, consider upgrading for performance gain.
Now for the rest

2. Did you install vmtools in both the virtual machines? that is a must
3. Do you have the sound option enabled in hardware associated to the VM?
4. Have you set the sound as "Connected"?
5. For network - go to Manage Virtual Networks and choose any of the empty ones in Host Virtual Network Mapping - Choose your LAN interface that connects to the ADSL/ Internet. Go to your VM and choose Vm - Network - Custom and the connection you just made. Confirm by doing a ping to the ADSL.

6. In case this doesnt work, try postnig with screenies.

Cheers :D

Also RTFM (Google for this please)

Did you install vmtools in the virtual machines? you do not need to install any drivers in the virtual machines!!!

yes VM tools is installed .....:( u mean to say we dont need to install any type of drivers in guest machine?like graphics and audio ect?if yes..then y am not able to use my audio and video drivers properties...?

Check in vmtools inside the virtual machine if you have tick marked the sound on it. video needs hardware acceleration to be enabled. (vmtools setup gets a popup to show this). to install vmtools, find the menu option that says - install vmtools, i forget exact location. And you DONT need to install any other drivers except vmtools.

VMtools wud give u a lot of options like copying and pasting from Physical to Virtual, Customising a lot of setting etc.

It is very important that you install VMware Tools in the guest operating system.

With the VMware Tools SVGA driver installed, Workstation supports significantly faster graphics performance.

The VMware Tools package provides support required for shared folders and for drag and drop operations.

Other tools in the package support synchronization of time in the guest operating system with time on the host, automatic grabbing and releasing of the mouse cursor, copying and pasting between guest and host, and improved mouse performance in some guest operating systems.

The installers for VMware Tools for Windows, Linux, FreeBSD, and NetWare guest operating systems are built into VMware Workstation as ISO image files. (An ISO image file looks like a CD-ROM to your guest operating system and even appears as a CD-ROM in Windows Explorer. You do not use an actual CD-ROM to install VMware Tools, nor do you need to download the CD-ROM image or burn a physical CD-ROM of this image file.)

When you choose VM > Install VMware Tools from the VMware Workstation menu, VMware Workstation temporarily connects the virtual machine's first virtual CD-ROM drive to the ISO image file that contains the VMware Tools installer for your guest operating system and you are ready to begin the installation process.

^^ Thats why i said install it. Thats also why i said RTFM - read the f..ing manual :P cheers!

shut down the vm and check configuration of vm if sound card has been added in the virtual hardware.
