Need Help, Imporving my Ping

OK guys so i need all the expert info i can get now.

I have really gotten into multiplayer games recently, BUT, my damn ping is always too high, minimum 200, 250+, how the hell do i improve this.

I have Tata Broadband 1.5mbps unlimited, would increasing my speed have any benefits...?

I wanna do anything it takes, get some weird gizmo thing to lower my ping, whatever, lol.

PING depends on how close your are to the servers try playing on Indian/Singaporean servers for best results.

If you mention the game and tell us if its Original or...Ahem....We can suggest some servers.

The games are Left for Dead 2 and Battlefield Bad Company 2 both are not Ahem, lol, they are original.

Been playing left for dead 2 and sadly in both these games i can hardly find any indian servers, but yea, the only way i get any decent gameplay going is through singapore severs, but even then my ping is 200 minimum, so...?

PING also depend on your ISP.

Call your ISP to check that or switch to better ISP like Airtel.....

I got Alliance broadband its ping too high cos their infrastructure is poor.

They use cheap fcking wire and switches distributed by local cable operators.

Arghhh, i've been with Tata for 5 years now, u sure switching to airtel woudl reduce the ping...? Does the speed affect the ping, if i get like 2.5mbps instead of 1.5mbps, would that reduce the ping...?

With Airtel, I used to get a ping time of ~23ms. Also getting more bandwidth would not decrease the ping time...it depends upon the hardware infrastructure of ISP.

So no other option other then changin my net?, Airtel has shit plans, only 1mbps unlimited and that too changes to 512 after first 25gb, no 2mbps or sometin unlimited, crap.

I don't know what Games you play but on CSS (Originial) I get a ping of about 30-40 on Indian servers and 90-120 on SG servers.

you are confused about speed and ping time aka latency. both are different and not related.

Latency in Networking - Speed and High Latency

For ping time issues you have to contact your ISP but I doubt they would help as the latency you are getting is fine and well within standard.

FYI, TRAI has set the following benchmarks for all ISPs.

Round trip delay should not exceed 300 msec on optical fibre communication links between India and the farthest node abroad. In the case of satellite links, it should not exceed 800 msec between India and t he farthest node abroad.

Gaurish is correct your ping depends on latency and not bandwidth and your ISP cannot do anything about it .

Certain game clients allow you additional feature such as tunnelling which may marginally improve your ping

having tested a few major ISPs i found Reliance and Airtel wired broadbands give the least latency (which is good) while BSNL gave the highest latency (which is bad) . Tested on German servers .

/\/\ And i've had quite the opposite experience myself.

During my TF2 days, i found that me, using Airtel got a considerably worse Ping to the SG/MY servers as opposed to my friends using BSNL. From Pune, atleast.

Most of my buds on BSNL 80-90ms ping to Starhub, while i used to get 100-120ms.

I used to play Americas Army(most of the servers from USA or Europe) when I had Reliance Wired Broadband.

But,now I can't play even a single MMORPG(all servers in USA).

I have Alliance ATM.

Reliance got better ping than Alliance but Reliance CC is horrible.

Be careful about Reliance CC or else your life will become pathetic..........:(

Oh,BTW I never play pirated online game.
I always play original online games doesn't matter free or paid.....
