Hi All.

I might get a Toshiba C660 laptop with DOS in my hand tomorrow. It got only DOS. Need to install windows 7 and office in it. Got hold of a Win 7 disc and the drivers.

New to installing win7 in a DOS based laptop. Anything special in this? Just pop the disc and boot r8?. Any recovery drive kinda fund in a DOS laptop? Any disk partition to be done? I usually split into 30-70. 30 for OS and the other for Data. I hope i can do in this also?

Please advise.

Any help appreciated

Thanks

m-J

yes you can go ahead as you planned.

one advice ---install windows from Fast USB drive.

it completes windows install in 15-20 min.flat.

here is my favourite tutorial

Use a USB Key to Install Windows 7

you will get all option to format drive under advanced option where you have to select where to install.

all the best.

not necessarily. I install windows 7 from my DVD. 13 mins. And i know this cause i needed and urgent format before 2am so I could keep my stuff for downloads. Started at 1.30, was on the desktop at 1.43. :D
Just make sure you leave atleast 40GB for the system drive.

in my experience,my install happened faster over usb than dvd.

may be my dvd drive was to blame or something .

you may try it when you format next time.

But i'll definitely try from USB when i do next. i got a 16GB Sandisk Cruzer blade, which i want to drive my car over cause i can type faster that it can copy!! :(
