Hi,

I am planning to buy a washing machine and need help. I really don't know anything about these. Please suggest me a good one in terms of performance.
No need for look, brand. Pure performance and nice customer support.

Budget 15 to 20K

Should be able to wash bedsheets and a bit heavy clothes.
Low water and low power consumption is appreciated.

Thanks in advance

buy lg one or Siemens (the best) don't go for electrolux, their service sucks. and yes go for front loading.

Also try and get something having a steel drum instead of a plastic one. One problem with front loading machines is that you cannot stall them and remove/add clothes !!! Its surprising to know that you may come across situations where you want do to that (e.g. when you remember that you forgot to take out your wallet from your trousers!!)

top loaders and front loaders have their own advantages and disadvantages :)

Top loaders are good if have problems with a proper water supply to the machine, you can just dunk a couple of buckets of water in the top and carry on :D
I use a semi automatic top loader at home and my clothes get clean. Most of my friends swear by the IFB front loaders though!

Front loading is more harsh on your clothes than a top loading one esp the spin cycle. You might want to select wash programs of a smaller duration when washing delicate items in a front loading machine.

As as Kneo said, I find the convenience of adding clothes to the m/c (once it has started) really useful. Not easy to do that with a front loader.

If you ask me, a front loader is good for families or for kids clothes that get really dirty. But everyone has their requirements.

hi
you have to decide first how much kg of clothes you will wash,
then u have to choose accordingly.allways buy steel tube for better lasting,
second you have to see if you are personally going to use it or ur servent ,if servant is useing dont buy more then 12k as she is going to spoil it after 1 year only, dont forget to buy extended warranty for peace of mind.
according to me IFB AND GODREJ are good washing machines, godrej service is too good .

So what are the advantages of front loaders?

The only advantage I see is cleaner washing(besides being able to keep some things on the top :P ). Good for families with kids :). In all other aspects, top loaders are better. But top loaders can't always give you a clean wash. Again, this depends on other factors like detergent type, amount of detergent in relation to clothes put in, water quality etc but is what most people seem to want i.e. the cleanest clothes at any cost.

The bearings, seals and springs of a front loader wear out faster due greater stresses during the spin cycle as the drum has to rotate while being suspended(centrifugal force is more where the drum comes down creating a force imbalance on the bearing). In case of top loaders, the centrifugal force does not suffer(or at least uniformly suffers) any offset due to gravity. This could translate to increased maintenance costs for front loaders and more frequent breakdown and servicing reqd.

Front loaders are generally more noisy during the spin cycle due to the same reason.

If you are a working guy/lady or living in a relatively cooler, non coastal place, I think a top loader is better. It's less harsh on your work clothes.

godrej gda902 with turbowash is a good top loading machine using from past 1 year no problem purchased for 9k from vijay sales
