Hi guyes

I have problem with microsoft excel as it does not get open directly when u click on the file icon.I have to open excel application and after that i need to open with File-open menu.What could be the problem??I am using os as winxp pro.need ur hlep Pls
 
Right click on that file, click on open with, select ms excel and at the bottom there is checkboz to always open this file with this application. Check that
 
are u trying to open a file which is:
"write" protected ?
"password" protected?
"shared" across a network and the same is used by multiple users ?
 
No sir all the excel files are happening like this.Here none of them are right protected,shared,password protected.I have ununstalled the office 2003 and reinstalled it again.But problem is same
 
come across the same problem on a pc at work running office 03....even a repair reinstall of office doesnt help...some problem with windows.....i got frustrated and eventually ended up ghosting the hdd....its something to do with the SP of office....some update causes it....go to control panel and check for Microsoft Updates for Office 2k3 and uninstall it and pls post results. Check for : update 925524

if that also doesnt solve try this....

open excel..tools > options > general > and select "Ignore Other Applications".
Close excel.
and try opening the file.....
