My hp dv6703tx which was overheating and my C2D 1.66Ghz processor was often getting underclocked to 966Mhz. While i was searching for possible fixes to overheating issues( which included opening up the lappy, cleaning the heatsink/fan, replacing the poor quality themal pad used by hp with a copper shim etc.. )the laptops display was gone recently. So I decided to open up(its been 3 years since i bought this thing, so no question of warranty) and clean it at any cost and did it last week. While opening it and cleaning it wasnt so much an issue the display problem was never solved. I was able to use an external monitor and everthing was perfect in it, the temperatures CPU n GPU came down by almost 20 degrees.

But now i have another problem, i think i have damaged two of the cables that connect the power button and led board to motherboard. These cables are black in color and marked KOTL E220709 AWM 20798 80C 60V. When i searched for it i can find it only with sellers from US. I have also learned that the black ones currently i have in my laptops were notorious for failures and HP is now using a revised version of the cable which is white in color. If anybody can help regarding the purchase of this i would highly appreciate.

@Mrcool ~ I am also finding the same cable i.e. KOTL E220709 AWM 20798 80C 60V VVW-1. Like you, i removed the cable to clean up the internal parts and end up with cable destruction. If anybody can help us in finding this cable in India then we will be truly thankful :).
