I'm taking a trip next month... where there will be lot of traveling involved on road as well as less electricity on stop.

So in search for solution to charge my gadgets, I came across this : eBay India: CAR 12V DC TO 220V AC + USB INVERTER CHARGER SVB-0043 (item 350065483569 end time 06-Jun-2008 15:47:24 IST)

I'll be carrying my DSLR with a spare battery (and charger), a camcorder with bigger battery (and charger), my iPod, cellphone and laptop. Of which, I would require to charge mainly my camcorders smaller battery, occasionally my DSLR's battery (it will be mostly day shooting, so battery can run longer), my iPod and laptop.

What I would like to know is... does anyone here has any first-hand experience with similar product? How well does it work? What are the down points? and if at all, is it advisable to get one of these for the trip?

EDIT :

If at all, it is all ok to buy such product... does it make big difference to go for branded one over cheaper non-branded one?

Like this one : eBay India: APC 150W DC to AC Inverter with Auto & Airline Adapter (item 380027668407 end time 13-Jun-2008 15:51:43 IST)

Also, if one to get such product... which is better option in terms of output... 150w or 350w? Is it viable option to go for 350w? or 150w should suffice the need (charging at least 2 gadgets at a time)?

iGo i am not sure of the mentioned eBay product but i use APC Car charger which provides similar kinda inverter to charge off your laptop. However, you can always plug-out the APC charger and plug-in your cam, mobile or any 220V charger.

I have been using these chargers from the last 7-8 years in my tourings. It started off from APC Inverter which was bought from singapore lately @ 130SGD . Later on, after being conked-off after 4-5 year i bought a new one from India only. It costed around 2400-2500 @ Nehru Place, Delhi.

Cheers

Thanks asthedivx... I'm thinking of getting that APC inverter, the one listed on eBay (second link in my post). I think that's the one you are mentioning. I think it should be bit peace of mind, than cheap Chinese knockoffs. :)

Sorry, i didn't saw the said link earlier as i visited the first link i.e. the chinese one only. My APC is black in color, else is same. However, i feel before ordering it through eBay try to procure it from your local hardware market. It will be much more cheaper option.

can we power a xbox with it :P sorry just a wild idea :p
I am not sure of the wattage requirement of xBox. If it's 220W, the YES it can be ran over the said inverter. But still i would like to advice to stay away from running any kind of device which require continuous electricity on the said inverter, since no guarantee of stable current is there.

Yeh.. I bought it already from local shop for 2500. The socket is proprietary, but the other end on supplied cable is simple two-pin socket or three-pin socket (for laptop charger brick) so most of my chargers will work.

Thanks again for your input. Appreciate it. :)
