Need PSU for Crossfire

5850 tdp is 150 w and that of 5770 is about 108 w(provided they are stock editions).so i would suggest to go for corsair 650tx or 750tx keeping in mind futureproofing
check this out
Corsair
btw the cfx b/w two diff cards is not that great so I guess u would upgrade to a 5850 soon .if so go for 750tx
wHat is ur proccy?
If its a 125 w AMD or 130 w i7 9 series go for the 750 period

CPU 45-125W
RAM 1 stick around 2W
Mboard 25W
HDD 1 10W
DVDRW 1 25W
Maximum power drawn USB 2.0 1 5w
PCI card 1 5W-15W
System fan 1 2W-10W
Fan Controller/Card reader under 1 5W

Total your system load then select a psu at least of 25% more wattage.

For GPU there wattage varies largely. upto 75W(without pcie 6-pin connector) a 350W psu just fine and for more than 75W check review of that card find its wattage and buy psu at least of 25% more wattage.

I have bought recently 5850 and 5770 and i need to crossfire so good psu that can do it. I am currenly having Vip Gold 450 Watt
Sell the 5850 and buy a 5770 instead, scaling of 5770 (~1.7x) is the best among AMD cards. 2x5770 overclocked = 5870 (Although some games do not support CF)

For PSU go for Corsair VX550W for 2x5770. And please throw that VIP PSU. You could also sell both the GPUs and buy a 5870 or GTX 580

Wouldnt Xfiring HD5850 and HD5770 result in HD5850 functioning on par with the HD5770 :S

@OP: Whats the rest of ur setup?

What do u mean to say?that the 5850+5770 will be as good as a 2x 5850 cfx setup????
Errrr....
Common sense dictates otherwise.
the 5770 has a 128-bit bus whereas 5850 has a 256-bit bus.the mem and core clocks are different. In case of cfx with 2 different gpu's the collective performance is equivalent to that of 2x the lower end gpu.Check this out
ASUS EAH5850 CrossfireX: : Final Thoughts - L O S T C I R C U I T S

Not overly surprising but still somewhat unexpected was the finding that the two RADEON 5850 managed to outperform the 5870 tandem in several benchmarks, primarily the 3DMark Vantage Feature Tests 4 and 5 and also in F.E.A.R.2 by a substantial margin. Everything else being the same (Catalyst 10.6, all other hardware and software), this again underscores that CrossfireX can be a bit temperamental when it comes to mixing and matching different cards, even if the GPU is the same. On the other hand, taking two cards from the same manufacturer, and with the same memory configuration should not cause problems as long as the memory configuration matches. Arguably, this is a somewhat global statement and there may be some exceptions but overall we feel rather save about this recommendation.

shahadithyab- Please post your full computer configuration? And budget for PSU?

A really nice PSU that i may be able to suggest (esp without any more information from you) will be the Corsair HX750 (or something similar/better).

Errr... Wouldnt Xfiring HD5850 and HD5770 result in HD5850 functioning on par with the HD5770 --> Means i was saying it would result in HD5850 functioning like a HD5770.

Dont know how u interpreted my stmt as HD5850+HD5770 --> 2*HD5850.

If my stmt had been HD5770 functioning on par with the HD5850 --> Then only it means the HD5770+HD5850 --> 2*HD5850.

He means to say that the HD 5850 will need to scale down to HD 5770 level..

therefore it is not recommended, as you wont be using the HD 5850 to its potential..

Moreover, you will not get good results..which you can get if you xfire the same cards...
