Only one single internet wire (no modem etc). now since my renovation work at home is going on i am thinking of expanding no of connection using a 8 port switch. or should i go for wireless. my home area is about 800sq ft. I also have laptop.

can i convert my existing wired internet into internet? If yes what are the devices required? and how much it will cost? Will it provide same speed as wired internet? since i download many stuff on lan from other users using oDC or DC++.

I am looking for VFM solution. Please suggest asap. I am totally noob at wireless networking.

Thanks in advance.

Yes...convert your network to wireless. All you need is a wi-fi router with 4 ethernet ports. It'll cost you about 2-3 thousand rupees. In the long run you'll find that it's money well spent.
Place the router next to your desktop so that you can use 1 of the routers ethernet ports to plug in your pc. The laptop and any other devices you buy in the future can connect through wi-fi.
Theoretically, the wi-fi speed will be lower than the wired speed, but in reality you'll get about the same speed for your internet.
You can also get a router with an inbuilt torrent client, so that you can download even if your pc is off, saving you a bit on your electricity bills.
