15K is a decent budget for a desk that will be used with just a laptop. From an ergonomics perspective, I would suggest that you add an external keyboard, mouse and laptop riser to your setup so that the top of the laptop is at eye level.
Invest in a decent mid-back office chair as well, with lumbar support, if possible.
Take a look at something like this, then go visit your local furniture makers and see if they have something similar/competitively priced.
