Hi guys following is the rig which i currently have

E6600 2.4GHZ
Intel DG31 PR
4Gigs of DDR2 corsari XMS2 Rams
8800gt

My friend is going to sell of his rig which comprises of Q6600 B3 revision and ASUS P5G41T-M LX3 Mother board

Iam planning to buy the CPU and mobo , my question is if i upgrade to Q6600 will i see any significant bump in frame rate on frostbite 2 engine games and other games in general

as of now my current rig is struggling to run frostbite 2 engine games but other games which do not depend much on the CPU like Borderlands2 dishonored they play fine.

So please tell me will i see any significant bump in performance if i upgrade to Q6600 and ASUS P5G41T-M LX3 DDR3 Mother board.

and he also asked me to quote the price for the MOBO and CPU so how much should i buy the mother board and proccy for?

Q6600- 3years old no warranty
Motherbard a year old and has 2 years of warranty left

Thanks,
UG

I am pretty sure a lot of people here are experts in this field yet no reply's :(

I don't think it'd be wise to upgrade to Q6600 from E6600,You'll only get 10% performance gain. For the pricing Q6600 with no warranty should be for 4k and the mobo say 3k or so,Since you're spending 7k for the older combo go for Intel i3 2120-6k and Gigabyte H61M D2H-3k.You'll get 20% gain from E6600-http://www.anandtech.com/bench/Product/61?vs=289

Hi Jakob,

Thanks for the reply i3 2120 seems a bit too costly for me how about this processor

Intel 3.06 GHz LGA 1156 Core i3-540 Processor | Processor | Flipkart.com

here are benches from anantech

AnandTech - Bench - CPU

Ill be playing @ 1440X900 and with a 8800GT if i bu this will there be any significant performance bumps from my current processor?

Thanks
UG

Nope it won't bottleneck future GPU upgrades,Also i3 3120m isn't available here yet,You'd go with i3 3220 OR i3 2120.Also the 8800GT won't give you the performance you like so you'd upgrade the GPU too.
also i want to know whether i33120 will bottle neck any future GPU upgrades?

I suggest you stick with your current setup until you save up money for your next upgrade. e6600 and 8800gt is nothing to be sneered at. A q6600 won't give you any significant increase in frame rate.
