Need some pointers regarding Win 7

I had Win 7 installed on my HDD. Unfortunately my mobo went kaput. I have a back up mobo. But every time I start the machine, it goes right before the login screen and restarts. I know that re installing OS is the best option. But I have some sensitive data e.g. saved passwords in Firefox, saved games which I need. So, I guess I can retrieve those in only two ways:

Either somehow running the already installed OS or retrieve those data from app data of the OS drive accessing from another machine. I'm able to do neither. Any suggestions ?

Get a copy of the latest ubuntu disc and boot from it, OR get a copy of bartPE and boot form the same.

copy the c:\users folder to another drive.

Okay. I got the names of the files responsible for storing passwords in Firefox. So, I'll just install Win 7 on some other drive without formatting it and import those files.

I totally forgot that I could install the Windows without formatting a drive
