Hi friends,

I am planning for new CPU for office kind of work that include data entry on a online web-based software. There will be no gaming but suggest a motherboard with good on-board graphics so that online web-based software do not have any issues like hanging, etc.

My budget is 15,000 to 20,000 for the following items:

Processor ----- AMD Athlon 64 X2 4400+ CPU (Rs. 3,900)
Motherboard---Asus M2A-VM or Gigabyte GA-MA69VM-S2 Motherboard (Rs. 3,500)
RAM-------------Kingston 2 x 1 GB DDR2 667 MHz Memory (Rs. 2,200)
OS--------------Genuine Microsoft Windows XP SP2 professional (Rs. 6250) - (No vista due to client requirement).

OLD ITEMS:-
Sony DVD CD/DVD writer
Microsoft keyboard mouse combo
Samsung CRT monitor Syncmaster 798MB
Cabinet with 450 watts of SMPS
Samsung Sata 80 GB harddisk

I will upgrade only graphic card later for DirectX 10 support after upgrading to vista when the need will arise.

Please give suggestions to improve this rig or suggest any other better rig, as I will not be upgrading this CPU for about 2 years.

If you for a little better configuration here it is:

E2180 Intel Dual Core 2GHz 800FSB 1MB L2 (4,200)

BioStar P35 (Rs.4800)

Kingston 2 x 1 GB DDR2 800 MHz Memory (Rs. 2,800)

Why buy an original OS. You can get pirated OS off the net especially winXP with all the cracks and serials available to fool microsoft and other donwloadable websites.

That comes to around 11k. You can get another 160 GB HDD for 2.4k and increase you space..

If u want you can add a c2d for greater speeds

BioStar P35 is based on P35 chipset so there is no onboard gfx here. As for XP, when he wants Genuine why not let him have it. Pirated stuff could be fine with you aslugani but not everybody is comfortable with it, specially people who run their business from their rigs.

Ok, here are three configs

AMD config

Athlon 64 X2 6000+ @ Rs 7.5K
M2A-VM @ 3.2K
Transcend 2X1GB (800Mhz) @ 2.2K
Win XP Pro+SP2 @ 6.2K

Total: 19.1K

Intel

Core 2 Duo E6550 @ 7K
Intel DG33FB @ 5K (supports quad core)
Transcend 2X1GB (800Mhz) @ 2.2K
Win XP Pro+SP2 @ 6.2K
Total= 20.4K

What I suggest is:

Athlon Athlon 64 X2 5600+ @ 6.4K
M2A-VM @ 3.2K
Transcend 2X1GB (800Mhz) @ 2.2K
Win XP Pro+SP2 @ 6.2K
And 500W Gold SMPS @ 1.8K to replace your old 450W PSU (I am assuming that it's a generic PSU)
Total= 19.8K

:hap2:

Now, I am thinking to go for:

Asus M2A-VM

AMD X2 - 4800+

Transcend 2X1GB (800Mhz) PC 6400

Win XP Pro+SP2

Any more suggestions are welcome. I will buy these items tomorrow as I need this rig up as soon as possible.

robertjohn ,

I read latest (on TE) that AMD & Corsair slashed price so to save with good move to Corsair RAM.

for max stability, get an M2NBP-VM CSM. its "AMD Commercial Stable Image Platform & NVIDIA Business Platform" certified . we use the same chipset in our dell systems. they're damn solid

ASUSTeK Computer Inc. for more info :)

One thing about M2NBP-VM CSM

Please read this about M2NBP-VM CSM:

M2NBP-VM CSM memory issues.

Is it can happen to me also or it is just a one case?

Also suggest me. which has better onboard graphics, one with GeForce 6 GPU or one with ATI Radeon X1250-based graphics?

no idea. it seems to be an isolated problem. the motherboards on our systems, though the same chipset, are Dell OEM

Okay, good option. Please suggest the motherboard which has better onboard graphics, as I would not be adding any graphic card until I will need Vista. Any other motherboard is also welcome.

the onboard is a quadro dude. it can run aero without any issues.

the 690g has better gaming performance, but the nvidia is more stable , and the desktop manager is useful sometimes

Ok, can we downgrade the motherboard with some other cheaper and add a 2500 to 3500 graphic card.

Tats not a wise advise sir and this being a forum intended fer resolving technical issues related to h/w and s/w, the mods can ban u frm the forum fer the suggestion u'd quoted...

It is of the firm's concern tat it uses legal copies of s/ws used in the systems to avoid any further problems watsoeve...

U may be warned if the mods notice it... Be cautious...

a Jetway Mobo would be enough for your requirement also an AMD 4000+ would do the mobo and processor would cost aroud 5.2k and 2 gb ram should cost you 1.8k considering the gfx card the onboard is enough i've played COD4 on low setting with 800x600 and its enough old games like doom and farcry work well.

also a PSU should be enough a powersafe 400W i sufficient if ur not putting a GFX card.

One more help I need from all of you. I am not getting here these items except ram and xp2 oem cd. 800 mhz ram i am getting is of nonbranded like, dynet and elixor some brand. The price they are quoting is higher than what is mentioned in www.deltapage.com of ram.

Jetway M2A692-GDG

AMD X2 - 4800+

Transcend 2X1GB (800Mhz) PC 6400

Can somebody tell me address of New Delhi Shops where these items I will get in cheap rate including bill.
