Hello Guys ,

I Am Building New Rig Most Probebly with Phenom X4 955 BE and ASUS M4A79T DELUXE MOTHERBOARD . i am planing to do 2x4890 Currently and later 4x4890 .

I am not sure how much PSU I will need . the other components planned are :

Triple Channal DDR3 6GB RAM Crosier 3x2 GB
WD Velociraptor 300GB Hard Disk 10,000 RPM
1 TB WD Hard Disk
2xDVD Writer
2xSunbeam Cold Cathode Kit/30cm
1xSunbeam EL Wire Kit 150cm
1xSunbeam Laser Led / White

I think i will require more than 800W . I considered Tangan 1100W one but had herd bad about it . so i am unsure what to buy .

THe Case is also not decided , most preferrabely with transperent body .

Budgut is very high for these components as i will be overclocking .

I have more questions

How is the Motherboard for Overclocking ?
Can Graphic cards of diff series can be used as Sli/Cfx ? eg . 4890 with 4870 ?
I will be useing dual monitor setup of 22" and 24" is that ok with the graphic cards ?

Please Guys i am not very good at selecting these components

If this is ur rig then u should need a 1000 w psu...,imo go 4 Corsair hx1000 @ 14k I think so...'
It can support up 2 1300 w in full load as u r going 2 crossfire it....! Tagan bz series r good but Corsair is the best..

4 case u can go 4 antec 1200 or thermaltake armor + these r full tower case with good cooling...u can go 4 cm 690 but I wonder all these components will fit in a mid tower case...!

gpu hd 4890 is good but u can have a look @ gtx 275 or can take 4890 2gb sonic edition...'

4 x 4890? Does that motherboard have all the 4 independent PCI-E lanes with 16x b/w? Dont think so and frankly that's going to be a bad investment IMO. You're better off with a pair of GTX295 in SLI instead of blowing cash on the additional 2 4890s.

Seems like you haven't planned anything as yet. Post your budget and the requirements so we may help you out with the system.

PS: Welcome to the forums. :)

2X4890 will be good value for money. But don't go for 4x4890.Performance increase will not be much.As for the PSU Cooler Master Real power pro 1000W will also be good.

+1
I think he intends to run x2 cards in crossfire.
Not really worth it IMO.

Also, go for the core i7 if spending this kind of money.

hummm... , i read the specs of the motherboard , it has 4xPCI express 2.0 16x

i think i will get core i7 920 for the budgut . Phenom II 955 has AM3 And DDR3 support which makes it par i7 and the phenom comes default with 3.2 GHz ( please correct if i am wrong )

another reason for choosing amd is that amd is keeping good vfm and backword compability(remember AM3 processors work on AM2+ Boards )thats the reason as i will be upgrading after a long time but it will be also good .

please highlight something on my this question also

Can Graphic cards of diff series can be used as Sli/Cfx? eg . 4890 with 4870?

If yes then i wont have to buy additional 4890s i would go for some 5870 or 5890 . ( one and a half year or even more )

also is there any motherboard which provide future upgradibility ?

PS: i already got phenom 955 for 260$ and a 4890 already . I want maximum upgradibility option .

now that you have bought the phenom.. no good suggesting you anything else.

post your total budget and the components you will need for the people to suggest stuff.

for the psu, the corsair hx1000 would fit ur bill perfectly and then more.

now that you have got an 4890, stay with it unless you game on more than 24".

Corsair TX 750 is more than enuf for Max i7 OC + xxx ram + 2 x 4890 OC + 4/5 raptors coz ur config wont cosume more than 600W even under EXTREME LOAD and EXTREME OC. Check reviews if u doubt this.

Costs less than 7k i guess..... Dunno y ppl suggesting DOUBLE THE PRICE psu when u care abt VFM......... zzzz... IMO, HX1000 for 14k for U is a TOTAL WASTE.

EDIT: TX 750 costs how much?

I wont Comment on The Power requiered and all.

The only thing i would like to comment on is that get the i7. Cause it has better scaling for CF and It wont be a bottle neck whereas the Phenom II are bottlenecks.

Now that u hav already bought the phenom 955, get the MSI 790fx gd70 motherboard. And u cannot run triple channel on a AMD setup....so u gotta buy dual channel 4gb or 8gb ddr3 RAM.
Get the Corsair TX850w PSU.

cheers.

http://support.asus.com/PowerSupplyCalculator/PowerSupplyCalculator_right.aspx

i have chacked psu requirment thru this it says i need atleast 900w . is that fine . coz i will have many lighting system . btw budgut is no concern as long the rig will perform good for 2 yrs.

i will buy additional 24" screen and use my existing 22" screen with the system .

i have put aside 20k for power , cooling and lightning and maybe case .

when i checked from http://support.asus.com/PowerSupplyCalculator/PowerSupplyCalculator_right.aspx it says i need atleast 900W :-S

i have 20k for Case,Cooling,Lightningand PSU . i am thinking of antec 1200 , how much it cost ?

is it true that amd 955 doesnt support triple chanal ? :S i have read it is AM3 and supports ddr3 . i thought it must support triple chanal .

anyways how much crosier 8GB dual chanal ram will cost ?

He is planning for stuff like quad sli.. i m not sure if tx 750 is good enough for that. my guess is it would be close.
if it is sufficient, well and good.

tx850 is good.. it had slipped my mind :ashamed:

^^ Quad Sli is for future , current plans are single 4890 or x2, then addtional 4890s each year :D .

i want to ask can we use gfx cards of diff brand/model in cfx . i mean xfx 4890 with asus 4890 or 4870 etc.

Gah, you know, I can recognize a person whose mind is made up.
First thing for you to decide is weather you want suggestions or not. If you're sure about what you have in mind, go for it :)

Regarding the query in your last post, yes, you can use different brands.
For your PSU suggestion.
Get a Glacial power AL650 PSU for now, it will handle your crossfire/sli(2 card) needs. When you add more(!) GPU's for whatever reason, upgrade your PSU. The low cost of the current PSU and reduced price of your future one will hurt you a lot less that way.

I hope you do more research before making the rest of the purchases, there's no such thing as too much information :)

Good luck, and post pics. when done. :)

yeah :ohyeah: i dream of my lightning system every night . i wonder if my frinds would drool at daytime .

thank you all guys for their precious suggestions :) i will buy the psu suggested by you all .

thats not the way to go..........

It goes like this:

4890 vs 4890x2 (80% better) vs 4890x3 (maybe further 10% better) vs 4980x4 (maybe further 10% better)

So get a 4890x2 and a corsair TX 850W for now...

Later sell off 4890x2 n get 5870x2 or GTX 395 :) It will be much more efficient this way. believe me.

The TX 850 wud still handle it. :hap2:
