Need suggestion on going for a GPU upgrade

Hi All,

I have a PC that hosts an ATI Radeon RX 480 (8GB). Given the skyrocketing GPU prices, I wanted to check if there is a good way to upgrade my GPU to a cost-effectively (mid-range price) better one that supports the modern AAA games with eye candy.
I was also prospecting a PS5 instead of going through the custom rig upgrade for my PC.
Appreciate any suggestions that you can give me.
NOTE: I'm behind on the latest tech since a few year as I'm usually on work, but want to relive some of my old days by unwinding my weekends with some gaming.

Thank you!

What's your budget?

If you can accommodate a 60k GPU, maybe worth waiting for 2-3months for new GPUs, mainly AMD's 9070XT (or whatever it will be called).

For something cheap, something like a new i5 12400 based rig with a used 3060Ti or 6700XT for 16-17k will be a good choice, might cost under 60k. Performance wise slightly better than a PS5 but optimisation in games aren't good generally among AAA games. PS5 can be found for under 40k intermittently.

Ps 5 is better,,,
Ltt did a comparison
You break even with pc at around purchasing 36 games or you can buy yearly pass.
Also easier to resell.
LTT's comparison doesn't help much considering some games have regional pricing thus much cheaper. Some games are half priced on steam even after discounts on both stores. PCs also don't need any subscription to play games online.

Anyways, PS5's main advantage is the lower upfront cost, that's all. Also, PC can do much more than gaming & playing videos. So OP has to take the call on their usage.
