My config is in my signature..

Im looking for a economical motherboard which supports ddr3, the problem is that I have an Intel E5200 processor and I want to buy a motherboard which will support it and ddr3. My budget is 5-6k. I would be upgrading my processor later when I have the money for it, and was thinking of buying the i3 when it comes, would it be possible to buy a motherboard now that could support that cpu? Another thing that Im thinking of doing is that I could wait a bit more, save more money and sell both my mobo and proccy and buy new ones (AMD).

What should I do so as to get max. performance increase? (dont mind my dumb questions:)).

And Im a casual gamer, and I wont be overclocking.

Just wait for this month . Let Core i3 , core i5 dual cores 32nm come out with H57 mobos

My suggestion is Wait for this month and save some more money for newer Intel Core i3 or AMD proccy.

Just wait for this month

Note : This is not a dumb question at all.

You wanna see dumb questions see my posts

I made the mistake of asking any layman's questions about new Intel Core i3 , Core i5 series and LGA 1156 .

Already I have been tagged as dumb by everyone for asking dumb questions

The prob is that, when they will come..they will be quite high priced, then I'll have to wait more for their prices to come down...

You have 4 GB DDRII of RAM already and why do need a DDRIII mobo now. As of now not much of performance difference between the two. Your next upgrade should be that of the CPU's when you have enough budget. The i-3 will be priced at $125 but always there is a pentium version for $87 :) A proccy (i-3) and mobo upgrade will cost you 12-13k then. But IMO you really dont need one now. Your system is more than sufficient for casual gaming.

My bad i didn't see you had 4 GB DD2 Ram :ashamed:

No need to upgrade at all.

@OP:

You have a decent rig. Maximum you can do is to get a 2nd hand Quad. Else rest is all good to go.

The problem is that my mobo, as Asus says is not windows 7 compatible, meaning I dont get drivers for it and because of that im unable to use all my speakers properly (no proper audio driver)..what i was thinking was that I should buy a motherboard now, and later upgrade my cpu too, but for the mean time I have no option but to use my e5200. As im upgrading, why not buy a ddr3 compatible board?

Your mobo will support Windows 7 . Just install with Vista drivers. They'll work fine

LGA 775 can't utilise DDR3 Rams

Totally wrong! What about the motherboards with the nforce 790i ultra chipset? Then there're motherboards with the variants of the P35, P45, X38 & X48 chipsets which utilise DDR3 RAMs as well.

You need to read up before posting!

Yes i'll do that . Wrong info from my part

Becoz in Intel mobo's with DDR3 do not support DRR2 at the same time. + your procy will have to change as well as mobo just for DDr3 compatiblity. of course u cud go for 790i ultra chipset but really doesnt make sense. Not worth the money or upgrade right now!

I say save the money and watch the market for the coming months. When things are so brand new, don't jump for them. They are just not worth the money spent for the performance or so called future-proofness gained!

As per this forum post, you can easily get away with Vista drivers for your mobo. I've done that with my older comp (AMD system) which had only Vista support too, no probs there.

Regarding your mobo, this user doesnt seem to have the audio issue you said, but he had a LAN issue with Win7 64bit.

There're motherboards which support that! ;)

I bet an MSI board which does that. Do not recollect the model/chipset/make though.

Shivam - From what I see your simply looking for a stop-gap solution.
The SLI should be able to support Win 7 with a few tweaks. However if you still want to go with a motherboard upgrade go with a low cost G31 chipset or so.
I think it would be pointless to spend on a mobo with DDR 3 support and use the same processor at this time.
Rather you pick it up at one go when you move to i5/i3. My two pieces....

Actually, Im currently running Win 7 on my pc, i only get sound from my two front speakers and my subwoofer, nothin from the other three speakers. How do I fix that then? ( I have tried numerous drivers ranging from vista x64 drivers to custom ones, none of them help)

and if I do get a ddr3 based mobo, I'll buy ddr3 ram and sell my ddr2 ram

CAn I get some suggestions?

there are motherboards that support both ddr2 n ddr3..

my board for example.. gigabyte ep45c ds3r

the gigabyte series with "c" in the middle terms means combo of ddr3 n ddr2..

Given the minimal performance difference between DDR2 and DDR3, there is no use in upgrading to DDR3 right now. Wait for core i3 and processors and then upgrade the mobo+proc+ram.

DDR3 will not move mountains if you change the board.

You seem to have a 5.1 set up right. Try with a movie/clip which has 5.1 channels officially on it.
