I kept my mercury woofer by the side of my CRT monitor, after a two days I could see color pixel accumulate on the side of the CRT screen where woofer was kept. I degaussed the monitor and it came well. But again after two days it happened again.

My friend said that it is because of the woofer. So I kept it below my table. It worked fine no problem.

But can it happen for speaker also. Please suggest. Still not able to understand why did it happen so?

Dude

All SPeakers have a strong magnet. Hence the electrons released by CRT Gun gets attracted towards teh magnetism created by teh speakers.

Monitors also have a DeGausiing coil wound around the CRT to protect picture disctortion due to stray magnetic fields. However in ur case, as teh speaker is kept next to monitor, it is affecting teh pictures as degaussing coil is not able to counter teh magnetism created by the speakers.

U can experiemnt with ur other speaker. If its magnetism is small enough to be countered by teh degausiing coil, u may get a good picture.

However it is advised that u keep all magnetic material away from monitor to avoid long term affects on your electron gun in CRT.

Thanks for the info. :)

LCDs arent affected by speakers kept close to them. However, dont put a very strong magnet (neodymium) near the LCD screen.

Thanks :)

satellites are usually shielded but not the woofers so keep the sub slightly away from the pc
