Need to block IM services on PC

I seriously want to block all the above due to kids situation ....:@
I'm loosing a lot of time because of it...:@
tried Firefox internet block settings but they found out . So please help:huh: :huh:
 
Errr..instead of completely blocking it ..why dont u let them use it under your supervision.. or monitor their online activities..??..

by the waydont mind asking you, how old are your kids ??

just my opinion..incase u still want to block it i think it can be done using a firewall...like zone alarm..

EDIT : errrr u have kids ??...ur age is like 19..so are they your siblings ??

But still i think, instead of outright restriction, engaging in a dialog with the kids, and maybe suggesting alternatives would be a better option. I would hate to do that to my kids. I actually suggested human age to sis as a time pass, and at least I've taken her off orkut :D
 
use hosts man its easy and WAYYYYY over the head for common ppl. Also, it blocls out ALL apps on your comp from accessing theese services.
 
if you have a router, set it to filter the urls. If you're particularly pissed , you can reduce QoS and what not. :devil2:
 
I did same for my siblings too. They couldnt live without orkut so i blocked it by editing hosts file. But they still didnt stop and started visiting cafes. That time it wasnt so strict like now. Today they ask for id cards and all.

So then i installed a software called real spy that logged all keys presses. So then i changed all their passwords of yahoo/gmail and all the hardwork went kapoot. It was a mayhem, blaming friends whom they believed and gave their password. These girls have a weird problem of giving passwords to close friends. "Like if i am not able to check my email, u check for me and vice versa." :rofl:

Atleast they lost their "online friend" ids and contacts.

Now they are in boards so dont sit on net. And i no longer intend to do such nasty things again. I just tell them whats right and leave the rest to them.

After all its their life. ;)
 
i used it and blocked each and every social networking sites.............

How do i stop messenger from working without getting a prompt.

is there a to block msn messenger, yahoo messenger etc softwares...

My sis is already suspecting me for blocking all these sites...
