Our 15 years old Whirlpool semi automatic has finally conked off and we need to buy a new WM urgently.
Looking to buy a fully auto this time and parents are preferring IFB over any other brand.
Mom wants a front loading but with an inclined axis so that she doesn't have to bend a lot. Features she needs are pre wash soaking and 3d wash.
IFB Elite SX has everything and available at HS18 for a 10% discount but am apprehensive over ordering from them as the delivery period stated is of 14 days and we cant do without one for so long.
Someone we know can get us a discount at the Next outlet in our city.

Just wanted your inputs on which brands and models we can check out.

Budget is a healthy 35k but wouldn't wanna spend unnecessarily for marketing gimmicks. Capacity can be 6.5-7.5kgs.

Get a Bosch or a Siemens. They are made by the same parent company - BSH GmbH. There is a model that fits your requirements and budget sans the inclined axis drum.

I got a Bosch recently and am mighty impressed with the quality of the washed clothes and everything as a whole. The impressions can be had here - http://www.techenclave.com/gadgets-consumer-electronics-buying-advice/washing-machine-help-135777/

Thanks. Will look for them but have an inkling that they might be harder to find. In the OP of your thread, you have said that the ASS of IFB are not competent. Is that a localized issue or a general trend all over India.
I will search for Bosch at the Next store and Croma but we dont have Vijay Sales over here(i think we dont, nearly 99% sure)
Also are you completely sure that Bosch machines are german imports, because that would be just awesome.

IFB's service deficiency has been prevalent for a while now and many members from the forum were complaining of it. IINM IFB's service was handled by Bosch before these folks introduced the machines in India sometime last year. Ever since that move, they have opted out of IFB.

I am not cent percent sure of that fact but I was given this piece of information by the technician who came home to install the machine. He mentioned all the machines from Bosch or Siemens are imported. The box had everything printed in German so I thought he must be right. Bosch was planning to invest in a manufacturing facility in Chennai, not sure if it has already started rolling out machines - Bosch, Siemens to invest Rs 4.79 billion to build manufacturing unit in India's Tamil Nadu

I shall check if I can find some sticker or anything that gives information about the location of manufacturing. Will keep you posted.

Thanks man. Will try my best to find Bosch in my city. My dad already goes gaga over german engineering. Something about a pair of scissors we have that is apparently older than i am and still works great, so he is all in for Bosch. Is there any online store which can ensure quick delivery, just in case i cant find one locally.
Some friends of my mom are trying to convince her that she should opt for top loading machine. Something about clothes are stuck in the front loaders if electricity supply fails.

Please steer clear of any online store. It is always better to visually inspect and then go for a purchase amounting to 30k INR approx.
Yes, incase of a power failure, you have to manually drain the water through a pipe at bottom and then you can take out clothes, or leave the machine as it is to resume its operation once power resumes. On a side note, this should really not be a concern because power failures typically don't last too long at a stretch.

Personally, I would prefer Bosch/ Siemens over IFB at present. The only advantage with IFB machines is that they come with 4 year comprehensive warranty and I guess are marginally less-priced than their German counterparts. Do check out the service response in your area for any brand before settling for it.

Found 2 Bosch dealerships in my city. Will go tomorrow to check them out in person. What is the duration of warranty provided by Bosch, cause IFB are pretty impressive with 4 years warranty and 10 years spare parts availability guarantee.

Bought the the Bosch WAX18260IN 5.5kg washing machine. Was quoted 30500 and paid 26500 and my old non working washing machine in return.

Hey
Am planning 2 buy a front loading machine. How is ur experience with Bosch? Thnx

But I don't like the idea that they took ur non working machine back. Wonder what they will do with it? Use it in a new one?

I did the same when I bought a washing machine. Seeing all the good reviews over here of the Bosch range, bought one and it has been running problem free for more than a year now. No servicing done till now whatsoever.
have some questions about the model you got. Its a 5.5 kg model. This is the only model other than the 8kg model that has a 'reload function' ie allows to interrupt the cycle in case you forget to add some clothes. A useful feature.

- How well does it handle light loads, say 2kg. Does it go off balance and then refuse to spin. This keeps you from going with a larger capacity drum as the wash won't be as good. Larger capacity might not give a better wash if the load isn't close to full.

- The specs say it has 'automatic load sensing' so does it ever display how much the load (in kg) actually is.

Am a bit miffed that bosch india does not offer any models in their mid range logix series. All we get are entry level classix small & larger models. one maxx and that's it.

Never had a problem with light loads. Have even washed like only 4-5 clothes at one time.
Automatic load sensing in this case doesn't mean displaying the load. It means that it reduces the cycle time itself according to the load. For example in one of the modes we use mostly, it takes only 45 minutes on a lighter load than 75 minutes on a full load.
