Hi... so i need to buy an RO unit to get rid of getting those 30l bottles they fill dunno where :@ even though stated to be some plant in south delhi :ohyeah:

Anyways, one doubt about these units is i've seen them wasting a lot of water, reports are for 5 litres it may wast 10-15 litres... what are your observations? Over here the water supply is pretty limited.

Which brand to go for?

Thanks :)

yea, they waste approx 3L of water for every 1L of purified water.

Any reason you dont want an aquaguard? RO is only recommended if the water in ur area is very hard.

RO will waste water, you cant avoid that. In Delhi you get hard water almost everywhere. and It will also need a minimum specified pressure to run. I am using Aquaguard Reviva, great product but bad company I wouldnt recommend to buy Reviva or its latest upgraded version. Check which company has better after sales buy that company's RO unit, because it needs regular service as well. Pricing of the product, cost of maintenance(labour and spares) should remain the main criterion for choosing the company and unit.

There are many ways to utilize the waste waster from RO unit.

@mehrotra.akash the thing is over here in my society at dwarka, until a while back the water was hard'ish'... now the water seems very close to being soft..just drank some from the supply, and aside from the chlorine taste and general crudeness there isn't much to distinguish from the bottled ro water. i'l have it tested though before getting a system.

now seeing the amount of water wastage and the dissatisfaction with the after sales, as listed by setuniket as well, i am having second thoughts, i know that waste water can be utilized but it will result in the overhead tank going empty more often. as a matter of fact i was somewhat in the mind of going for that particular reviva...

please post some recommendations aside from RO as well...

I have also been using that same RO(the original model), after sales service is expensive but good in my area.

for Eureka forbes, it depends on your area, as its outsourced to local contractors/dealers

for most places, simple aquaguard (the UV filter one) is good enough, RO is not needed.

i have a RO unit installed in my house.its a aquaguard reviva.
we utilise the waste water to mostly wash vessels or cleaning or for stuff like that.but, storing the water till it is used poses a problem, but, its better than wasting it right?
and,if the water in your area is quite hard, the membrane will need to be replaced like every 3-6 months.thats the average people in my place get.and, the other filters get busted too,my unit had 2 filters,3 membranes,2 solenoids,1 water level switch changed, just short of one year after it was purchased.since then,we took a AMC,but their clauses are such that they will do only limited number of replacements.after that, the consumer foots the bill, which i believe for stuff like the membrane is quite a bit.
so,in the span of a year,we've spend close to 14k for the aquaguard.(we need like one water can for 3 days, for like 14k,we couldve bought enough water cans for atleast 2.5 years(?))

so,inquire around your place, see if other people have the thing installed, how it work out for them,in terms of life and costs.also, inquire about other brands, and their service in their area.eureka forbes has poor service at my place,so its a real pain too.

@setuniket,how does your unit run?issues?
