Trainz Simulator on steam. They have many versions like 2012 2015 etc.

sid meier's railroads was a lot of fun. I think I played it a lot more than the train simulator but that's just me.

I had played Microsoft Train Simulator which is a bit old for today's date but it was really accurate back then. Do try it.
