CPU/Mobo Need to expand my server ram from 8gb ecc to 32 gb ecc

Naveen_Reloaded

Galvanizer
hynix HMA81GU7CJR8N-VK

This is the current ram which is used in my server.

Server is Lenovo St50 , it has 4 slots i guess (havent opened it up)

Need to upgrade them to 32Gb .

Help me. I am even Ok with used Ram either from users here or from ebay or even from indian retailers/websites.

From what I can see, your server needs DDR4 2666 MHz ram. There are some options online but they too are imported and not sure about their warranty or guarantee claims. I personally know some people who've bought similar kits from ebay sellers and are quite satisfied, try to buy a couple sticks or less at a time and do look for reputed sellers with good ratings and read their T&C thoroughly. GLWYP!

Thanks , but i just need some pointers to specific links so that i dont mistakenly buy wrong kits. For normal PC its ok , but i dont want to mess up with server rams ,as they tend to be little costlier.

Also from the website , it seems motherboard doesnt support 32GB single ram stick.

this one ?

I am confused with R2/R1 and X8 udimm

The exact model is not available as per my searches, I think any 2666 MHz ECC ram would do the job, but to be 100% sure you can ask the seller for compatibility by sending them your CPU and Motherboard Make and Model. As to the capacity, buy smaller size for e.g. 8/16 Gb sticks and max out the board slowly, adding a couple sticks at a time. Tends to be more economical.

https://servercart.in/ Have purchased multiple things from them including refurbished servers. Pricing may be on the higher side but older stuff is anyway expensive. They test the parts before shipping to you. They can suggest something compatible to you as well if you don't need specific SKU.

The ram which servercart provided seems to be non truddr4 (F^CK YOU LENOVO - DEVIOUS B^TCH) , so everyime it boots up , we need to press F2. this is next level annoying s#IT. !!!

Servercart told me they will find me a compatible one in the meanwhile.

Does anyone know how to bypass this stupid thing ?

Error issue link :
This is absolutely horrendous from lenovo part. The very basic feature of a server is lost .. ie autoboot after power failure. This is very bad.

Dang. Wondering how they are checking this. Will check if MDL or any bios forums have any workaround for this.

I read somewhere there is some signature written into these ram which gets checked by the stupid lenovo Piece of SH*T . If it recognizes non-stupid lenovo ram , then it puts a stop in POST and asks user to press f2 to proceed , from there , it normally boots into OS.

the problem lies when it needs to restarted remotely or after a power failure. This is very sadistic . And i dont see why shouldnt sue them..

kindly help me..

Saw your post on the Lenovo forum. This is truly sh**ty behavior and what a nice way to retain customers :-( There doesn't appear to be any solution to this other than to install LENOVO approved "Qualified" Ram.
I know that this is not a solution and is too much work but just for reference came across this:

Digispark ATtiny85 micro is available on Robu.in
