WTF? Cat 6.11s. X850XT-PE (flashed). Every time I start Windows, in device manager there is a yellow exclamation mark against both the primary and secondary X850. "Code 10. This device cannot start", and the monitor defaults to 640*480.

I have to go to DM and uninstall both the cards, then go to Control Panel -> add new hardware, point it to the C:\ATI folder, where i've decompressed the 6.11 Cats.

ATI CC doesn't work either. The card itself is fine.. Q4 and NFSMW are working just fine. Any idea what might be causing this?

Maybe the drivers are having an identity crisis.. LOL, did you try some third party drivers.

And is this issue only with CAT 6.11 ?

Tried Omega drivers off the 6.9 Cats. Tried the BIOS reset and reseating the card as well. No idea what's causing this. Damn frustrating.

Hmm, try changing the card's slot. Also replug the power cord too.

Does it only happen when you restarted the comp or happens in between too. I mean suddenly the resolution reverts to 640*480 stating the card failed to respond to the drivers.

Enable VPU recover to see if it helps.

some possible solutions

use older driver like 6.10 or 6.9
clear cmos & give it a try
mabe a power supply issue ... lower your core & memmory speeds & try
does ur card use a psu connector like the x1x00 , try changing that or test ur card with another psu.

maybe an os prob too wherein ur profile/changes r not being saved.last resort format n clean install

verify the same in event manager

I think you still have the problem, try the steps -

1. Install the CAT driver, so that we can have a smooth remove.
2. Unstall CAT and CAT utility from ADD-REMOVE Programs.
3. start the OS in safe mode after the reboot of the previous process.
4. goto Device Manager TREE.
5. under 'Display Adaptor', delete everything. !! DANGER !!
6. Reboot the system in NORMAL.
7. If it asks - New H/w found, install Driver etc. IGNORE IT. still many things to do before reinstalling the driver.
8. Use this tool to remove ATI driver totally. http://www.tastycomputers.com/_private/downloads/ati/cat-uninstaller.exe
9. Reboot and repeate STEP 3,4,5,6 again, to be safe.
10. start Windows properly.
11. If it asks for New h/w found IGNORE IT, as if you agree, it will use old drivers.
12. RUN the CAT-Installation setup file. Follow its instructions.
13. Reboot
14. reinstall new DirectX 9C.

I followed this steps when I switch from ATI to nVIDIA. Had a smoooooth switch.

Cheers to that bud, but is the program you've linked better than DriverCleaner?
To uninstall, I normally uninstall the drivers from Windows CP, delete the cards from device manager, restart in safe mode, run DC, then reboot normally. Then, I run the CAT setup again... am I doing anything wrong?

Its from ATI itself. see its properties-version-company.
very very few knows about it.

Follow my instruction..... its hard to tell what wrong from here, na.
