Need to send laptop to Canada

Hello everyone.

I need to send a laptop to a friend in Canada. Its 1 year old and was originally purchased in Canada. Weight is around 6 lbs according to the specs and original purchase value was around CAD 750-800 approx. Can you please guide me regarding the options I have?

Is it worth taking the risk to ship the laptop?

You can ship through reliable international courier services like DHL but the shipping charges will be outrageous. BTW can you let me know what location in Canada you want to send the laptop to ?
You can also talk to speed post guys. I know it sounds weird but i actually get stuff like dry snacks and clothes through that and it is cheaper that way round. But i know there is no comparison of laptop and snacks :p

I was playing with different options in Fedex and I got a quote of around 4k. Would be willing to spend this much or lesser if possible :) , if it includes customs (if any - need clarification regarding this) and insurance.

edit: couldnt get a quote from DHL

Try UPS also. its cheap, I got stuff via UPS for $25USD. while DSL/Fedex were quoting $40.

But one thing is sure, choose any one of the three companies.
