Need to setup VPN for a company

Spectre

Hi Guys,

I need to assist my client to setup VPN for accessing the SAP servers from outside the company network ( ie thru Internet)
All servers run on Windows server 2008, requirement is to able to ping and RDP server from internet, in a secure manner.

1. Is there any built up VPN on Windows server 2008, which we can use
2. Are there any other requirements ( client etc)
3. Is there any 3rd party good VPN softwares for getting this done easily ( even if its a commercial tool)

Any help in this regard is much appreciated
TIA, Spectre

I've worked with OpenVPN, and its not so stable for a corporate use. Usual error messages like 413 and 412 are pretty frequent.

If you are ready to use a commercial tool, go for the Cisco VPN version 5.

OpenVPN works but like Anish said does have a few issues. I recently used OpenSWAN to setup an IPSEC VPN to multiple vendors for a client of mine. So far it works like a charm, it interops with most IPSEC compatible hardware so you shouldn't have an issue establishing a tunnel. It also has the ability to use L2TP so you can dial into the VPN using the inbuilt windows vpn client. Openswan:

btw, are you the same spectre who used to play WC3 back in the day?

Wile
