Forum Feedback Negative rep recommendation for simulation3

I want to add that there are quite a few of these trolls around, and I wonder why the moderators never take action, or is it just that we dont have any idea that action has been taken. I did report a post of some dude in the past, but I dont think anything happened....this guy was really crapping my thread..

y not use report post option??

if many people report then mods can add infraction since it bothered many members...

though... -ve reps will not be a good option imo... clash of egos will be there...

+to that...

i think we need to include some extra guidelines for newbies...

for example:-

1) Please do not look for spoon-feeding by asking questions like "Does XYZ motherboard support ABC processor?" or "What is the speed of DEF processor?". There is loads of information out there, please research before asking questions to the community and it will be much appreciated.

2) If you are going to disagree with someone, do so gracefully and not abusively.

3) Like in all forums, there are members who have contributed a lot towards the cause of the community. There may be occasions where they are "let off easier" than other members. It is deserved due to their previous efforts. So unless you have contributed to an equal extent, please don't start revolutionary topics like "Why was Mr ABC let off while i was not ?" The mods are responsible authorities, please do not over-indulge in protesting against Mod actions.

(this is what i have at one of orkut communities bt makes sense)

Warning are being issued followed by an infraction, just that its not visible to the public.

We attend all the reported post asap. So keep using it and yeah beyond a point if the member is too troublesome then you'll see a visible action on that person.

one shud have the right to negative rep anyone.

all shud be given this right.

but to make sure that this is not being mis used, one thing can be done,

that whoever gives neg reps, the message shud go to the mods,

and only if the mods approve that the member's post really deserves negative reps, only then that memeber shud get neg rep points.

it shud be like reporting a post to the mods,

it wud increase the workload of mods though:P

but this will make sure that nobody disrespect's anyone out of fear of negative reps.

it will be a strong point for the techenclave community.

so the option of negative reps shud be given to one and all,

atleast make a criteria of certain minimum no of posts to negative rep like the market section

just my opining guys...

wat say.

hehe, don't worry about that, we'll take care of that.

Only problem is there will be a delayed action sometimes when none of the mods are present and the damage might be done to an extend. But members can try to control the situation if possible.

so are u in for giving the option of negative reps to members.?

so wat even if its delayed.

atleast the person wud get negative reps.

^i misread your post actually, i mean use the reported post as much possible and don't worry about giving lots of work to us :P.

No -ve rep power won't be given to the members for now.

Good call@saiyan. I shudder at the mess it would create with the regular flamebaiting going on nowadays.

Plz include dealers in this also, when member gets infraction/warning, why no action on dealer. Same dealer was behaving gr8 @ other forum.

sorry for the ot:
looks like i walked into a junior kg class headed by saiyan as teacher trying to make the little kids quite.

back to the point - -ve reps option should be with mods only.

That is why there is a Dealer Feedback thread.

If you feel you need to settle an issue with a dealer, please use that thread rather than taking it up in their deal threads and making a mess there.

The reason why we don't take dealer feedback so seriously is because we see very very few genuine cases of resentment. Most are just regular trouble-makers who flock to threads - especially the ones titled 'Dell' and 'Asus'. Its a funny coincidence that the same set of members seem to show up at all these incidents.

I dont have issue w/ any1, no1 is trouble maker, he provoked many w/ his posts, eg. Rockfella, he was provoked. 69k member communtity adjusted to his style of dealing, but he hasnt changed single annoying habbit.

A lof of forums have negative repping. Maybe we can have that option here. Removes all doubts and harshness from the root.
