My wife needs a laptop, requirements in order of priority
A.MINIMUM DOWN TIME AND MOST THINGS SHOULD WORK OOTB
a.light,small(10-11inch)
b.MS office
c.surfing
4.occassional movies,music
Budget is flexible, was initially thinking of some basic cheap netbook. But I have never used one and she needs something really stable and reliable.
How is the basic 11"MBA?

+1

HP DM1z would be good for her... Its not too heavy not too light... Plus good for light stuff like surfing, watching movies, listening to music and for office stuff... :)

^^It won`t be used for serious stuff...But I have my doubts on HP,their ASS is pathetic(so is their dv6 series)

HP dmz1 is really the best option with 7200 rpm hard drive.if you are paranoid about ass then you need to find out about the ASS in your area as it varies.but dell should be really good and uniform in their ASS.buy a dell mini if you want a netbook.but in your situation i would get a hp dm1z and not the MBA

If money is no issue at all, the next-gen MBA will be a very good option. If you are in a hurry, might want to consider the Samsung Series 9. It's quite similar to the MBA, except much more powerful CPU (Sandy Bridge ULV), more connectivity and stronger Magnesium allow body. Could cost more though. If you are willing to wait, it is between next-gen MBA and the drop-dead gorgeous Asus UX21. The latter should be cheaper too.
