netshell.dll gone bad.. Now wth is this?

HDD1 Woes:

1) Left the desktop on for downloading

2) Came back to turn it off due to power failure

3) Took a while before it went off

4) Upon turning it back on after a while saw the twin comp icon (the one which blinks when connected to net) on the desktop turned into one of those non associated icon.

The start>setting>network connections tab is now empty

5) No action performed when double clicked on the seemingly corrupt icon on desktop.

6) Went to create a new connection from control panel

The procedure starts with me selecting Setup/Change a n/w connection.

Procedure skips step where it asks PPPOE option and other step i guess... leads straight to naming the new connection which is the last step.

Upon completing this flawed procedure the icon is again the non identified/associated icon which again does nothing.

7) Been getting the error that Netshell.dll is not registered something something (forgotten the exact error after abt 1.5 hr of my googling) when i click on the

8) Tried this solution as this came the closest. Both options tried.. still no relief.

9) The hdd did underwent a C: disckcheck when i had turned the machine on again.

Help Me

1) Finding a solution for this problem?

2) Is this due to a weak SMPS??

My HDD2 has issues as well.

Brief history about the 160GB Seagate SATA non single platter:

1) This darned HDD goes into a hang after few hours of continuous usage

2) If not a hang then gives a sound of its platters rubbing against each other

3) Tried RMA few times but came back w.o replaced/repaired.

4) Put this in the dumps and started using a seagate 500 GB single platter SATA 2 HDD. Which has been facing the previously mentioned issues.
