New AMD based development rig (fast HDD?) for 25k

hi guys,
we will probably gonna want a couple of PCs for work. Note that this is a FULL build (including display and UPS cost). Minus the UPS, it means a 22.5K for the computing hardware.

We want to go AMD for cost reasons and want the fastest possible HDD (lower HDD capacity is OK to meet budget).

Ideally I would want 4GB RAM - since we have a couple of virtual machines running for work.

We can compromise on the size and quality of the monitor.

Last suggestion from TE (a year back) resulted in a 15 PC buildout and they are working pretty well for us. Hoping for the same !

P.S. anybody know of good h/w assemblers in Noida/Ghaziabad ? (not just individual-part suppliers)

If u do not need the ODD then u can instead opt to invest the rest of the Amount on a mobo with 4 DIMM slots so that u can expand memory easily in the future. The MSI 785GM-E51 ~ 3.8k/ MSI 880GM-E41(all solid caps) ~ 4.1k has 4 DIMM slots and has support for hexa-core processors too. They also have better IGP with the HD4200 and HD4250 respectively.

Else u can sacrifice dual channel for time being and go for a 4GB RAM stick. 4GB Kingston DDR3 1333MHz costs 2.65k. Or u can do both ;)
 
@DarkAngel - thanks. If I could ask for a few changes....

could you specify a PSU other than FSP - though (I'm sure) quite commonly available in nehru place, it is quite difficult to find with system assemblers. Cooler Master is something that they usually have available.

Dont need speakers, optical drive (we install linux through liveusb).

With that in mind, could you recommend a better build ? Note that it is not a problem going over the budget by 2k or so.

then i wud suggest u to buy Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H (USB3 + SATA6BPS+ HD4250IGP) will cost 4800

And u said that u dont want Optical Drive then i wud suggest u to buy a good Cabinet like CM Elite 310 ;)

if u want a very fast hdd then a ssd is he way to go. but they have small memory capacity compared to the seagate

That motherboard you suggested will be probably out of stock. I asked SMC, THEItwares, every possible place I could, and I could not find that board, thought it's a FANTASTIC one.

If not Gigabyte 880GMA-UD2H then the MSI 880GMA-E45 @ 5.25k is a decent alternative.

Hey you are missing out the pricing part too a 80GB SSD costs a bomb at like ~ 7.5K per piece

I am seriously considering this config - with the notion that more RAM is better than DDR3, etc. My needs are strictly based on use-cases like postgres database memory usage, VM memory usage, compile times, etc.

I dont mind going for a DDR2 config if it means I can squeeze 6GB of RAM in my budget. Any suggestions ?

I would also appreciate recommendations of good system assemblers (w/ option to get annual maintenance).

Errr.... I have recommended DDR3 only. Now the DDR3 2GB costs ~1.25k whereas the DDR2 RAM costs 1.65k. So DDR3 is more cost efficient/

RAID 0 is highly volatile if one HDD develops snag all the data :dead: so I say RAID 1 with two 1 TB if OP wants RAID That is :)

Have no idea of the RAID 1+0 setup, I concur it will need 4 disks ( not sure ), I myself have two Seagate Barracuda 7200.10 320GB HDDs which are not arranged in RAID but act as two separate disks, transfer speeds are fairly good and never have had a system crash :) although that might be cause I have an original copy of Windows :bleh: :bleh: :)
