Also wanted to ask whether takin a 790gx with two 8x PCie slots cause much performance decrease compared to a 790fx with 2 16x Pcie slots if i am planning to crossfire 2 4830's???
sry abt it but one more question..
Is there seriously any future benfit in buyind a amd proccy and ati gfx combo...

It should soon hit the indian markets as phenom2 X4 is already avilable...:)Presently if you see AMD designs processors keeping the consumer in mind...so that upgrade should not be a problem..which is not the case with intel...All AM3&AM2+ processors are compatible with all DDR2 mobos with 140WTDP...You could upgrade mobo once DDR3 RAM becomes affordable...So you don't need to change the processor...

incase u r talkin abt changing to am3 board while possessing am2+ cpu..then thats nt gonna work.
am3 will not support am2 n am2+ cpus.
correct me if im wrong.

I would say you are still better off with Intel ..

which intel are u suggesting over which amd?
suggesting on the basis of stock settings or OC?

AM3 Mobo's won't support AM2+ Procy's
AM2+ Mobo's (Most of them) support AM3 Procy's
Suggesting on the basis of Stock settings ..., Clock to clock most intel's beat AMD's .
AMD's apparently OC better ., but i have found many people having trouble OC'ing past 3.8Ghz on PhenomII 940 .., which an similar Q9400 / Q9550 can manage too , and be faster too .

2 pcie Running on x8 and two pcie running on x16 make quite a difference but only on higher resolutions.. .. if you are gonna play on a high rez then go for the 790fx if you are sticking to smaller rez then go for the 790gx

Honestly i would stick with intel for now.. as their 32nm proccys are in testing stages... intels stock clocks are better and their oc is excellent too..

eventually it all comes down to individual choice... so think over it carefully before making a purchase.

Cheers!

So whats the deal.. If he is buying AM3 the theres no point in getting afraid or even think of AM2+ Proccy.. its good that AM2+ and Am3 both have support for AM3 CPU's.. So even if he is in low budget he can settle for a cheap 790Gx...

Yes AMD OC better atleast the 45nm AM3 .. The one you are referring isn't a AM3 processor.. Also the same processor has done 6ghz so no issue there.. You can hit 4ghz+ with a good cooler like Sunbeam CCF.. Guru3d did a 3.8ghz on a cheap cooler [AMD Am3 X3 720 BE] .. so its pretty obvious that it will do 4ghz+ ..

As far as clock to clock performance.. Please see the price too.. AMD X3 720 BE is high end X3 and its a Black Edition yet it surpass 8400 and Q6600...At that price is a great deal.. AMD counterpart are cheaper than Intel's :) Even at stock it beats E7XXX so its sttill a worthy contender..

Availability would be from March 1'st week probably.. Even I am thinking of getting X3 Be :D But I am afraid that I can convince my mom :P The rates of DDR3 aren't that high if you plan for a Am3 board :)

Intel offering against X3 doesn't have actualization support :bleh:

I think if u could wait for a week or two, then u will get better processors at less price by intel as they had reduced the prices of their processors in last week of Jan, 09 and the prices will reach in Indian markets in next 10 days.

X3s @ 165$ r overpriced, only fanboys will buy @ launch, good price will be 120~, otherwise Q6600 is more sensible buy and U know even w/ stock cooler current Q6600s OC to 3.3-3.4~.

haha when people compare X3s with E8xxx, they brag abt extra core which will help in multitasking, why dont they see this when comparing Quad vs X3.

^^See the review dude ! X3 is as good or even better than both Q6600 and E8400 :P

Edit : Yeah 165$ is a overkill :P 120-13 $ would be much better :D

^ Q6600 is only 2.4 stock, X3 and 920 r 2.8Ghz, in clock to clock comparison they r same compared to kentsfield, bench Q6600 @ 2.8 vs X3 720 (2.8 stock) vs X4 920 (2.8 stock), they will perform similar.

find some review where they compare Kuma vs Deneb vs wolfdale vs Yorkfield vs kenstfield, that will be more helpful.

Man isnt this a cause of concern....
I am waiting for 720 to release in full swing since its launch in Feb.
Its not available anywhere except for techshop.
and still everyone is suggesting it for Mid level PCs as if its as common as a potato.
Does anyone has any idea of its availability anywhere in India????
