New version of iPad Mini may come with faster A6 processor which is currently found in the iPhone 5. According to references found in the new iOS 7 SDK, three new iPad Mini models are in the works, 9to5mac reports.
The references found in a hidden file in the iOS 7 build are with the code name J75, J76, and J77 which point to one Wi-Fi and two cellular models. The processor version is “s5l8950x” processor which is same as Apple A6 SoC which is found on iPhone 5. This would mean much faster performance as compared to current iPad Mini in apps and gaming.
Other rumors are also suggesting that the new iPad Mini will feature a Retina display, while other rumors have said that the Retina display on iPad Mini might not arrive before 2014. It is possible that upcoming iPad Mini will be an update to the current iPad Mini before the next version with Retina display comes in 2014.
The new iPad Mini is expected to be unveiled in September 2013.
