Most audio manufacturers are focussing more on Home Theaters now which has led to the Audio System market becoming devoid of good systems. Hence, a budget component system makes sense than an all-in-one. A 10 year old Sony system sounds better than a new model.

Try to audition some systems; I saw some JVC models at Vijay Sales. Also Denon and Onkyo may have some models but may be above your budget.

Happy Hunting !!

The Norge setup will also fit into your budget. Just get an audition before you take the plunge.

thnx 4 replying...i knw most of the companies are focusing on HT sys...i.e. y w r not left wid much options for gud audio system...

wat do u think i shuld do buy a dvd player and a speakers or go for still available audio systems...wat is a better option???

I suggest you to go for this. Audioengine AE2. Never heard them myself but have good reviews of it. plus it active so you don't need an amp to drive it. just hook up any thing that has an audio out and you are good to go.

You should find stores in Delhi to audition this thing.

Your ears are the best judge. As I said, take a demo of the audio systems available. Take your own CD's for the demo. Also, what is your preference? Audio CD, Cassette, mp3?

Almost every audio expert will recommend a standalone CD system for Stereo music from CD's if you don't want multichannel sound.

A DVD player will be a compromise in terms of Stereo sound if you buy an inexpensive source. You have to go for an Oppo or a Cambridge Audio DVD player which will produce very good Stereo Sound.

I have paired a DVD player (Pioneer 610) with a Stereo Amp (Onkyo TX8511) and two floorstanders (Polk Tsi 400). Planning to set up a dedicated stereo system soon, complete with a CD Player.
