Hi eveyone,

I am planning to get a new PC...I have got a budget of 50K.

I have decided to go for C2D E6400/6600 with a gigabyte DS3 along with 2 Gigs of RAM.

Now my main concern is with respect to the graphic card. I was originally planning to get a 7900GS. But with the news of the Geforce 86xx series doin the rounds, i am caught in a dillema. DO u guys think it is worth to wait for these cards to release or should i go ahead with a 7900GS? I would definitely want to play crysis and other DX10 games as and when they are released but will they completely suck on DX9 hardware?

Secondly, what PSU should i go for? I am not into o/cing as such but i want my system to be very stable at stock speeds. I was considering the coolermaster extremepower 600W. The powersafe ones are not commonly available here so any other alternatives u suggest would be helpfull.

Lastly, the rest of the peripherals... HDD, optical drive etc..etc..

Thanks in advancce...

CoolerMaster is fine for ur needs..
HDD go for a sata 2x 250 gb disks
optical drive - LG H20N or Sony AWG-170A

As for the Gfx card.. it depends on how long you are ready to wait .. for the 86xx series to be launched and be at a reasonable price point is atleast 2 months away.If you can wait for that long then consider buying a nice card from TE market section .. there are some awesome deals that you can grab. There is no use buying a new card if you are anyways gonna buy a DX10 card.

:)

Yeah i too use the Coolermaster Extreme 600W for my rig and it works absolutely fine so it should be fine for you too

So, you are finally buying a comp !! :eek:hyeah: Congrats !!

And I dont think you can squeeze all your requirements in 50K.

A friend of mine wanted a new cop for 50K. I tried calculating but you cant get such a high end config in 50K.

My suggestion is this

E6300 + DS3 + 1 GB RAM = 15K (for mobo and CPU) + 4K for RAM

1K for cabinet

30K remaining.

Monitor -- 17" CRT -- 6K

Power Supply ------- 4K

HDD (A seagate 320GB one) --- 5K

15K remaining.

7600GT --- 10K

In 5K, you need to get keyboard+mouse, optical drive (LG H20 is abt 1.8K), sound card, speakers, floppy drive (please buy one.... I regretted not buying one and in the end, I bought a samsung FDD :p )

what kind of display are you looking for...woudn't the display price affect the distribution of the remaining moolah for the rest of the components?

^^Yeah, I too would suggest fixing the display first. This will be the component you use the most, but which tends to get neglected. Also, it is a component which gets upgraded the last. Try to squeeze in a 19" widescreen LCD. Its around 12K. So, your approx config would be...

CPU + Mobo = 15K
RAM = 3.5K
Monitor = 12K
K/B, Mouse, basic speakers, DVD-RW etc = 4K
Cabby + PSU = 7.5K (as suggested by stormy)

Which leaves enough for a 7600gt.

Have people stopped using a HDD? :bleh:

yeah nikhil... finally found the PURPOSE to get a rig for myself:p

Anyway, as far as the display goes, i will be going in for a normal 17" CRT... i will consider a flat screen only if can spare some cash after everything. My friend bought a new system last week and as far as i know, the prices are as follows:

C2D E6400- 10.9K

DS3-- 10K (Its in stock but he is quoting a high price, i think it was 8K sometime back)

HDD 160GB SATA II-- 2.5K (Seagate)

Zebronics 7900GS-- 10.6K (This is the cheapest i could find, but since i will not o/c it, i think i can settle for it even though its a zebby:p )

Sony DVD W-- 1.8K (The H42N is also avlble for the same price)

Kingston DDR2 1GB x 2 667Mhz--- 7.2K

only thing i couldn enquire was the PSU, how much will the Cm extremepower 600W cost?...according to my calculations, the total cost is gonna come to around 52-54K. And i think i will go ahead with the above graphic card..i have changed my mind finally since i have waited enough... i will think bout DX10 once it releases:p

I will probably make another trip to Sp road today and i will le u guys know bout the prices...

My suggestion:

E4300---- 8.2k

P5B Vanilla---9.5k (if DS3 available go for that)

2 X 1GB DDR2 667 Transcend--- 7k

250GB Seagate 7200.10 ----3.5k

19" Viewsonic VA1912---- 12k

cabbie + PSU(Zebby 500W, Delta OEM) -- 3k

KBD+ MOuse----- 0.7k

LG DVD H10N---- 1.7k

Sparke 7600GT---- 6.7k

Total Comes to arnd 52k.....if you buy from a single shop , you can get 1k discount at least....This is the best config one can get now at arnd 50k

Thanks for the suggestions guys.

I had been to sp road on sat and here are the latest prices that i got:
(All the prices are from the shop since only he had all of them in stock):

C2D E6400 -- 11.5K

Gigabyte DS3-- 8.75K

XFX 7900GS -- 12.6K

X1950PRO -- 13K

XFX 7600GT --- 9K

Kingston DDR2 667mhz, 2 x 1GB-- 3.75 x 2

Coolermaster extremepower 600W-- 4.75K:huh:

Creative inspire 2.1 --1.75K

Samsung 794MG-- 4.55K

Ok.. so the DS3 is available and the price is quite ok now. So i will not be compromising on CPU+mobo+RAM+graphic card( i know these are the areas where we can get the price down, but i just dont feel like getting anything lower than these:S ).

So taking the rest of the components into account, can i get a cabby+PSU for 3-4K. The CM is a bit too much to fit in. I can shave about 1K if i go in for the leadtek 7900GS. Also i have seen some shops selling the proccy for 10.8K.
So considering all these cuts, the total cost comes down to around 53-54K. But the PSU still remains a concern. I havent enquired about the zebronics 500W PSU, but if its available then i think i will consider it. BTW, how is it compared to the powersafe 500W? Which of the two do u think is better?

why the 6400 , if ur going 4 a high multi then go 4 a e4300, just make sure u get a good week , also make sure its the p965 ds3 and not the g965 ds3
