lssn dude dont think abt SLI and Crossfire..

1. go for the new chipset mobo, X38 ones. Like the ABIT IX38 Quad-GT

http://www.techenclave.com/forums/prices-destruction-abit-ix38-quad-gt-101867.html

ask Phoenix, maybe he can arrange getting u tht board.

2. if possible wait couple days... in Jan Intel will release there new cpus.

3. a 8800GT 512. shud be okay for now, as the 9 series are just around the corner.

4. if ur thinking of spending so much on gfx card then the least u can do is buy some decent ram sticks. Chk the market section for some 2nd hand quality sticks.

5. buy a good psu, like tht hx620 or chk market section i think i remember seeing a ocz psu on sale.

6. Buy a really good LCD monitor of 22" with the cash tht u will save, cuz gaming on a crappy monitor wont do justice for the 8800gt.

well actually SLI is not worth it like you said... makes NO diff at low res.. and im only gonna play at 1280*1024 so i will ditch the SLi idea...
i dont like abit MB so im going for ASUS P5KC which has DDR3 support as well as DDR2 support and only for 9000Rs :) its great... I can't believe corsair XMS is so expensive here :( i have it on my current system and its great :) anyway i'll see.. i have to get corsair :) how about Sparkle calibre 8800GTS for the card??

I think I mugged up. For RAM see these two links

For gfx card i think get this one: Legit Reviews - XFX GeForce 8800 GTS 512MB XXX Edition Video Card - Power Consumption and Conclusion (see the bottom line) But it may not be available in India yet.
Also in same review just see how well two 3850 scale in crossfire!
