I am wondering if the option 'New content since last visit' can be implemented.. It will be so much better than the one we have now wherein all posts are displayed.. its like 44 pages when i hit the new content button..
 
There is an option to filter content the way you want. You just have to look around.

I think OP's question is different. There is an option, but it doesn't work as expected. Let me try to explain.

I log in at 7 PM, it says 15 threads since last visit.

I check 10 of those threads. 5 threads not read

I log in at 10 PM, it says 20 threads since last visit. Out of these 20, 5 are from the previous visit, which I did not check.

I read 7 this time. 13 threads not read

I log in at 12 AM, it says 15 threads since last visit. Of these, 13 are from the previous visit.

In short, there is a carry over, which doesn't lapse until one choose the 'Mark All Read' option.
 
how will the end be identified ? previously it clearly mentioned that "the below threads contains unred post since your last visit" after listing new threads.

why can't the option "New since my last visit" made default? i believe most of the users select option 2.

Now i have to select forums> click recent posts (~44 pages will always be there)> click "New since my last visit" .

it is better to have the option "New since my last visit" in the top menu
 
Once you select new since my last visit, it remains selected. Thus becomes default for you.

I think it is based on cookies. I just opened TE for the first time this morning on this laptop and went to new content page, the new since my last visit is already selected and I have only 2 pages of content.

I think it is working as desired and content is not getting carried forward. I hardly read 50% of the threads on TE and if it were carrying forward I would have tens of pages.

Can a few more members confirm?
 
Um , I have one more Q, is it possible to select 'forums' as default? In my case, it comes to 'pages' as defaults.
 
Nope it is not possible. Depending on where you search from it will take you to that page. If you are on portal when clicking on VNC it will take you to pages, if you are on forum it will take you to forums.
 
I don't think its based on cookies. Have cleared my cache quite a few times, but it still takes me to View new content 'since my last visit'.

Edit: My threads aren't being carried over either.

Edit 2: Threads are only being carried over if you're selecting the 'Content I have not read' option. Please make sure you guys are selecting the right option.
