The new xps doesnt look as good as the earlier xps and studio xps series but it isnt fugly, the aluminium lid doesnt look that good in photos but i am sure that it will look and feel much better in person.

It doesn't look fugly et all...Yeah the standard cover is kind of too simple, but add a Design Studio Upgrade and it looks stunning. The insides are all brushed metal with backlighting, it looks gorgeous. And the XPS logo glows, which is a nice add on.

It has got very good specs, but wonder why the 3 year warranty is so pricey for the XPS...Dat is a serious setback if i were to buy the XPS.

The new XPS offers so much more than any laptop in the market currently, and its more about the 'bulk' and not the 'looks' which is the niggle, coz its built robustly and the metal finish just adds to the appeal.
Compare that to the slim yet weak design of the timelineX or the uncessary gloss and gaudy imprints of every other brand, for some that's ''Good design'' but Dell definitely caters to a more sober and practical taste...
I think its the most defining and appealing design from Dell!

once upon a time, XPS's were sexy beasts and inspirons were drab workhorses. Now the XPS looks just like an inspiron with a silver paintjob and a few customizations. Platform bastardization, apparently is not the monopoly of cars.

Anyway, it makes us Inspiron R owners that much more happier :P

it ain't fugly man.. looks a bit bulky than the previous studio's and xps' thats all. but that bulk is good for ventilation I suppose. less heat is much better than very slim as far as I'm concerned ;) :P

It is surely not fugly.....

In fact, I like the neat & simple lines..... Looks better than the Alienware laptops that have lines that would suit a Lamborghini!!!

I mean, why would 'aerodynamic' lines be needed on a laptop..... lolzzz

The XPS has been marred by bad designs, bad ventilation and those hopeless frying pan Nvidia Graphic Cards... n i m one of the disastrous users of it.... It was the worst decision of my life to buy an XPS....

Sadly they reintroduce the XPS after discontinuing, again with Nvidia chips.... Nonsense....

It ain't fuggly dude

Its great for dissipating heat

It has all the features you want Including USB 3 and Bluetooth 3

SO it surely is a VFM at that price

Dell to me was always primarily into business laptops. Guess they've simply lost the concept behind XPS that they started with in the 1st place. Looks like a Macbook wannabe.

Lolzzz Why don't u gift ur XPS to me.....!!!
:D

guess you should start a poll for the same..

although imho xps is supposed to represent dells gaming/ graphic oriented line in which case the previous models looked far superior.. and so im with the guy who started this thread .. i hereby declare it "fugly" ;-)

I agree that XPS lineup stands for "Xtreme Performance system" or something like that, but looks also do matter. I mean till now XPS machines used to have killer looks and now even the Vostro 3400/3500 which is supposed to be budget business notebooks has similar looks. Infact they also have metallic body maybe not as much as the XPS. And you can always get good hardware on any notebook, so you are basically paying the premium for design and looks. XPS used to be the cool notebooks after Alienwares and now it is no more the case. Also please note that all macbooks have unibody Aluminum but they still look great. I mean why would someone pay a premium to get XPS when he/she could a very close system in terms of looks/design/specs for a lower price which is the VOSTRO 3500/3400 lieup.

fugly is the right word . the looks are unacceptable for a 70k config , most laptop manufacturers are offering good battery backup and decent cooling in slim profile . it resembles a no. of children laptops
