Hehe, so temptation got the better of you :p

BTW it seems you did not take the AV package..just quickly check what screen you got ..

Apparently Dell has been sourcing the M1210s LCDs from 3 different companies..Auo, Samsung and Toshiba

It turns out that Auo screen is mucho superior over the other two:

1. AUO3214 Best

2. Samsung SEC3157 Mid Range

3. Toshiba LCD58E Worse

now it seems almost all the AV package equipped machines come with the Auo 3214 but on the none AV package machines ..it is a luck of the draw!

And apparently the difference between the Auo and the Non-Auos is remarkable so you may want a swap in the 21 day free return period , esp. if you got the Toshiba

anyway, you get the Core2..I wish I had the patience :(

@Nikhil: The XPS Gen2 may have looked sexier, but the behemoth that it was, I suppose you were better off using your desktop for gaming since you couldn't really lug it around anyway ;)

I still feel ur old XPS rocked in terms of looks.

But this one has gr8 configs except for the graphics department ;) and the smaller screen.

Congrats on ur purchase

Use this:

EnTech Taiwan | Utilities | PowerStrip

and do not worry about the naysayers :p

I love this 12" baby so much, I love it even more every passing day...

(Primarily coz it;s so portable, yet powerful enough to game ...I feel that the 12" screen is more a boon than the bane many seems to be construing it as!)

No other technology purchase since my first Atari 2600 console has been so satisfying :)

uh-oh...at least you didn't get the toshiba..

Apaprently the difference between the Samsung and the Auo is in the viewing angles only whereas the Toshiba has issues with color reproduction too///

IIRC, someone had posted pics of the 3 screens sideby side on another forum, let me try find it

BTW where did you buy it from?

:O why oh why?

what did you do while configuring

The 1210 is still cheaper on the India site...isnt' it?x

edit: The 2 X 1 GB seems to be the culprit here!

If I were you, I'd have prolly shaved off some of the upgrades like the 2 GB (instead of the regular 1...overkill for the 7400 I say), the 7200 rpm drive (more of a battery drainer than a performance booster) and would have taken the AV package (To ensure the Auo) yet to keep the price on the lower 70s

Thpoigh you still have the option to use the 21 day free return period and reconfigure

Having said that, Once having got the machine, I would not have the patience to return it and wait for the replacement ;)

compare the LCD to your other Lappies and see how it fares, if you are happy with it, it doesn;t really matter what make it is...does it? :)

Hard drive, ram, bluetooth, an extra bigger spare battery for those flights, extra charger and the works... all jacked up the price. But I ain't complaining, the laptop seriously owns :D.
