hmmmm...so though it loses to 8800 ultra in all the benchmarks but only by a very small margin and its way too cheaper than the nvidia offering, this is getting better and better but we should wait for reviews from other websites too since u never know some reviews/authors manipulate the results.

Sensational title...but it doesnt beat the 8800GTX, not that it is supposed to. It beats the GTS clearly now...but there r benchmarks where the GTS beats the 2900XT too...

^^ Heh if that site is anywhere near credible, so much for the HD 2900XT vs 8800GTS arguments....

Well , the indeed has awesome mem. bandwidth plus loads more stream processors.. .. with properly optimized drivers .. the card should be really powerfull ..

Sensational title?? U can say that again!! Anyhow, the good news is that the 2900XT seems to show better performance with the new drivers.

But that still doesnt make me go along with it unless they come up with a better cooling design and lower power consumption.. :@

In a few more days, HD 2900XT is the card to buy... Value for money and with the new drivers its gonna b the better performing!!

The hardware is there on paper, we just need the drivers to use that optimally!! Many things in the silicon that I just love... and so was very dissapointed on the negative press it got initially...but then lets wait for a few more driver revisions and see!!

But are the AA issues sorted out, as the card took a huge performance hit once AA was enabled...

^^ Nope. Not as yet.

I dont even think theyll be fixed within the new few Drivers, (ie. Next few months. Lol)..

I think once the 65nm HD2950XTX comes out, theyll have all issues sorted.

I have been a bit out of touch with the latest GPUs. So, my question will look silly to you guys...

I want to know if there is any difference in image quality between ATI and nVidia in this latest generation of cards...

you finally upgrading? :O

Nopes, but the traditional strength of ATI in producing more vibrant color details still is present though not all will agree...

I wish :'( :'(

I was just curious.... I kinda have a soft spot for ATi..... So, was wondering if the HD2900 XT has something else going for it since it isnt able to match nVidia...

I would agree that all the benchmarks these days look at the FPS ignoring the image quality at those high FPS... But every person has a different way he/she looks at the image, so mayb image quality and vibrant colors is somewhat abstract...

I would suggest reading about HD video performance here:

From what I've seen on the web, both are good :)

^^Yes they're both equally good, although the X2900XT is still a teeny bit better particularly with shadow detail and in scenes utilising HDR IMO.
